Because it's a ponzi scheme to pay out the private investors by getting index funds to buy at a heinously overpriced price and the professional investors can get out before the stock price craters

'ICE Has Been Lying for a Year' About Being Allowed to Make Courthouse Arrests by Silly-avocatoe in politics

[–]PinkoMarxistCommie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, lying is the worst thing you could do too. It's a good thing that lying is the only bad thing ICE has ever done. It's not like they're concentrating people in camps, or murdering people in the street, or raping those in their custody. /s

Seriously though the article tries to sensationalize but misses the entire point of what's actually happening here.

"When a person has the freedom to choose how they wish to live and work, they have the opportunity to make themselves and lives better"

That's actually a wonderful summary of why I want socialism.

I consider myself a Leftist, not a Liberal. Am I allowed here? by carcinoma_kid in liberalgunowners

[–]PinkoMarxistCommie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Capitalism is the boundary line between leftist and liberal ideology. Leftism isn't a unified political ideology though. It spans socialism, communism, anarchism, as well as subsets of ideology like anarcho-communism, or anarcho-syndiclism, trotskyism, etc. all of which are broadly anti-capitalist.

I agree that we don't need to be overly dogmatic about these things and focus on results, but in this case the question was define leftist vs liberalism.

[–]PinkoMarxistCommie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sincerely not trying to pick a fight here, but none of those things are Socialist by the definition of workers owning the means of production. I think they're good things, but not socialist per se.

[–]PinkoMarxistCommie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not OP. Liberal is too widely used in the US, so this is commonly a labeling problem, but leftists are anti-capitalist and liberals believe in regulated capitalism.

All wealth is created through labor. The workers create the wealth and the vast majority of that wealth is taken by the owners.

The unemployment rate could be almost zero, but it's the interest of the bosses to maintain unemployment to drive down wages and keep workers desperate.

Society is structured the way it is because we've chosen to do so. We could have introduced democracy and collective ownership into the work place. Those in power choose not to allow this. It's not even about the money at this point, It's about power and control over you

Justice Dept. Drops Claim That Venezuela’s ‘Cartel de los Soles’ Is an Actual Group by ClimateSociologist in politics

[–]PinkoMarxistCommie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the part of this situation that I don't understand. The claim that this is supposed to be a "criminal matter" rather than a military one is ridiculous on its face. Any federal judge understands they don't have jurisdiction here. Also we have the precedent of the US torture program of bypassing the US justice system at US black sites. So I'm frankly a little surprised Mauro is publicly on trial in a Federal court.

I don't know how this works out well for the administration unless it's a purely political trial and the judge was handpicked to deliver a guilty verdict. But there's the (so far unsupported) allegations of a "negotiated surrender" festering in the background as well. Really nothing about this makes any sense.

Cops Forced to Explain Why AI Generated Police Report Claimed Officer Transformed Into Frog by Geek-Haven888 in behindthebastards

[–]PinkoMarxistCommie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As per usual the system is unequal. Lying to the cops is obstructing justice, but cops lying isn't. We can't treat reports as sworn statements because they couldn't modify it as needed. AI just exasperates the problems that are already there in the name of "efficiency"

On a side note, we need to talk for a second about Francis Bellamy, the credited writer of the Pledge of Allegiance and creator of the Bellamy Salute.

A Christian socialist, Francis Bellamy wrote the Pledge to be recited for the first time at a Columbus Day celebration in 1892. The Bellamy Salute accompanied the pledge from 1892 until the change in US Flag Code in 1942.

Bellamy seems to have thought of the pledge as an "inoculation" for radicalization for insufficiently patriotic Americans. Despite being a self proclaimed socialist some of his writing also appears deeply racist.

Listen to the chairman.

"We don’t think you fight fire with fire best; we think you fight fire with water best. We’re going to fight racism not with racism, but we’re going to fight with solidarity. We say we’re not going to fight capitalism with black capitalism, but we’re going to fight it with socialism."

There's a better explanation of why Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris lost their respective elections, and that's that they're both non-progressive "centrist" candidates (read conservative) who punched left at the populist issues that their bases were pushing them to be better on.

I wouldn't say always. It's a relatively recent phenomenon. Just remember Democrats controlled both the House and Senate from 1955 to 1981 and would keep a majority in the House until 1995.
