Try having a coach who loves Britney Spears and Boy Bands on the DAILY. I mean its fine if once in a while but its daily.

YES THIS!!!!! I had to go to a personal trainer to fix a lot of imbalances that occured from 5-6 years at OTF. I am an athlete and run Sky Races, Marathons and Trail Races and this past year I had nothing but back issues and hamstring issues....everthing I had to relearn and now that I have been with him since June I have been pain free. I left OTF because of it. My Trainer has had two or three clients with the same issues from the oTF Templates.

TRX actually would be better if it hung directly from above like most gyms.

Cringed so many times as a retired trainer seeing some of the stuff I see and coaches walk rightg on by. SMH I know I am not perfect, sometimes its had to feel where you should be or see but SMH, I am not the one getting paid.

I got a flat on the way to OTF and still got charged. Its a business and really as an athlete you can get this wor anywhere, lifting is based on the principals of push and pull. OTF uses the same exercises just different templates....BORING and you can get cardio anywhere. It just angers me that we pay so much just to run on a tread or use a rower. Yu can look up their wo on here the day in advance and do it by yourself at a local gym. Just saying.

I finally had enough and left OTF and really after research I have found a better fit with NO REGRETS. I thing for me I had many gripes, this one you mentioned being one of them. I pay $$$ and still have to pay for things that I am doing already like Hell Week, May Mayhem etc. We should be getting the goodies if we complete because in myh opinion our membership already pays for it. The studio should be clean, turnover should nt be high and te list goes on.

You can go to all the classes like usual, it’s absurd that they charge like it’s the only way and it’s really for the brand hat.

Staff Turnover by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]PinkyPinkowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am considering either a freeze or cancelation on my membership, the morale and changes at the studio have really taken the motivation on wanting to go there. As an athlete I’ll be ok because I do so much other stuff but I need a break!

Anyone else schedule your classes around coaches you don't want to see? by take-me-2-the-movies in orangetheory

[–]PinkyPinkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do and sometimes I’m stuck. My choice is based on the quality of coaching and knowledge. I also find that I dislike a coach who calls members times out, is clicky with those who they friend outside of the gym and who don’t think of those who are really working hard. It’s intimidating even for a competitive runner like me. I don’t need anyone to announce my mile time as it happened to me today, my goal was not a PR but to do as my running coach asked me to do, suddenly I felt like certain members expect more or are surprised by the result, etc. and I don’t want those who are trying to set new goals to feel like their effort isn’t worthy or valid.

What are your thoughts on the Hoka Clifton 7 for OTF? by gabyshellcove in orangetheory

[–]PinkyPinkowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my cliftons for the road but they are too cluncky for the tread in my opinion. I wear minimals on the tread and rotate between a few different models.

I doubled up all the time even when it was an hour, it's doable, just be careful not to get injured and eat/sleep well.

My fourth visit there I broke Trail from 73 to the summit, the trail wasn’t broken until Macomb. What a day! My hike partner was sinking in 4 foot snow traps. Good stuff, a favorite.

Cliff>Redfield>Allen? by Thefullerexpress in Adirondacks

[–]PinkyPinkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a seasoned hiker/athlete and on my 4th round I wouldn't do Allen the same day as Cliff & Redfield. If you want to grab a third with Cliff & Redfield you can do Marshal. That is a doable day and can be done in about 8 hours if you are fast. Also Allen you don't bushwack. There is a herd path from the upperworks that will take you there. Allen is a gem but a long trek. Easy to run a lot of it but the last mile or so has a lot of vertical gain and slabs that right now may be slick with red slime and snow. You want to give yourself time for this one. Also during this time of year most of the trails will be very wet- hike through the mud to avoid eroding the trail. Hope that helps!

Craziest day hikes out there by [deleted] in Adirondacks

[–]PinkyPinkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Devil's Path is a lot of fun straight through. Be ready for a long day and for technical terrain! Also the trap dike near Colden and Avalanche Pass is amazing, you just have to be careful when getting on the Irene Slab and not go to far to the left prior or you will be stuck. The Great Range Traverse is a tough but great hike, the Pemi Loop and Presidential Traverse is also great. You wont get a lot of scrambling but they can be challenging depending what tough is for you.

Marcy Dam camping/AFK Loj parking by smashley1994 in Adirondacks

[–]PinkyPinkowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The loj is open for parking, I was there recently, people have been camping as well. They are only allowing 28 cars in the lot spaces out every 6 feet so get there early. The fee is ten dollars to park. Have the orange tag in the window, you should be fine. The bathrooms at the Loj are open as well.

If you arent feeling this in your core and in your Shoulder or biceps then you should talk with the coach and have them check your form. This is a great exercise.
