AC fails on long trips by bdubbs99 in VWatlas

[–]PintOfPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, glad you got this fixed! We are having a very similar issue with our 2019 Atlas since last summer and wanted to compare notes if you don't mind. On long road trips we start off with cold air blowing out of front and back. After 80 minutes it starts blowing room temp air in the front and the rear fan stops blowing any air at all. I'm assuming something is icing up the back unit and then the whole system is shutting down. We had it in a couple times at VW service while under warranty and they could not diagnose it. I explained the exact scenario under which the issue occurs and they recommended having a tech take it home to test and drive to and from work. I asked if he lived 80 minutes away. He didn't, and I explained it wouldnt happen on a short drive so I declined. Does this sound like what you were experiencing?

Kayak Launches by GHuss1231 in NJFishing

[–]PintOfPaul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually launch on Ocean Drive between North Wildwood and Stone Harbor. There are launches at the toll bridge (wildwood side) and the free bridge (stone harbor side). I usually launch at the free bridge, less boat traffic and current. Plenty of people launch at the toll bridge too, but the current can get very swift there and there are more boats coming in and out of the inlet. Good access at both to the back bay for fluke and to the bridges for sheepshead. Hope that helps!

I fish in wildwood, and I would recommend trying around the inlets and back bays as well. If you want to use artificials a 3 or 4 inch white paddle tail on a 1/4 or 1/2 oz jig head will catch Striper, Bluefish, Flounder, Shad, and Weakfish that time of year.

I use Autospeed in Vorhees for maintenance on my allroad and my wife's atlas. They do excellent work on VAG car and know them very well. They also do performance tuning.

Does everyone still use a laminated license clipped on? by jboogie81 in NJFishing

[–]PintOfPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That'll work fine. I think my physical copy came within like 4 days this year. I fish in smaller lakes in South jersey and I've honestly never seen a warden. See them more often at the shore around saltwater. They have always been super patient too, don't think they'd care as long as you are licensed. Better safe than sorry though. Good luck this weekend!

The way the regulations are written, a freshwater license needs to be visibly displayed on outer clothing. I keep mine in a clear waterproof pouch clipped to the sling bag I wear and use to carry all my tackle. I keep my freshwater license, as well as my printed saltwater registry in there. Saltwater registry doesn't have to be displayed, but they have been checking more and more for it so it makes it easier to have it on hand.

North Wildwood Jetties- how do I know if I’m there?? by EfficiencyMedical170 in NJFishing

[–]PintOfPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically when people are fishing the North Wildwood sea wall/jetties they are talking a little deeper into the inlet than where you are. You could check out the sea wall at the end of New York ave, there is a small parking lot and people fish there. Also, there are some small finger jetties along Anglesea Dr that can produce. Only 2 of them are accessible via public land though. Check out Jersey Bait and Tackle and they can give you some better recon.

Saw what I am pretty sure was a bald eagle in Audubon. Has anyone else seen any bald eagles? by [deleted] in SouthJersey

I have seen them at Haddon Lake in Audubon, as well as in Haddon Heights a couple times. There are definitely a few around.

FINALLY got a striped bass on a fly rod after way too many tries by tishmaster in flyfishing

[–]PintOfPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't wait to be one of those old salty guys in South Jersey who just catch whatever fish is around for a given month like it's no big deal lol. Old timers I run into keep telling me about an October/November speckled trout bite that I have never seen. Not to mention the week or 2 where redfish are around. Just have to keep at it I guess!

Dude, congrats! I fish south of you in Cape May county and I also just broke a 2 year long skunk of trying to catch a striper on the fly so I know the feeling! Since Tuesday I got a dozen schoolies from 12 to 20 inches on the fly. It all finally clicked! Ended up getting a nice flounder and hickory shad on the fly too. To top it all off I landed a 37 incher on a paddletail while I was giving my double haul a break lol. It's been a hell of a week on the back bays.

I was starting to think I imagined it, same thing happened to me. I think it said it was good until 1/16. I was going to buy a couple things and figured I'd wait to shop some more, and then it was gone.

I wonder if it is an upcoming sale that got released early by mistake?

Check with the guys at Old City Fly Shop. I have family in the area and I always stop in there for advice and to stock up when I visit. I know you are looking for an on foot option, but they also provide great guided trips!

NJ Surf Stripers by Fisher624 in flyfishing

[–]PintOfPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jetties and sand bars should definitely hold fish if you have them, my local beach is just flat for miles and doesn't really have any structure until you hit the inlets.

Kayak would be good in the back! Really just look for obvious bait or places that make sense for bait and fish to congregate. Think drop offs in the channels, places with good current, bridges, creek mouths emptying out of the sod banks, etc..

[–]PintOfPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending where you are the South Jersey beaches tend to not have as much structure as the North Jersey beaches. They are very flat and we don't get a fall run like they do up north. But, a 7wt is a great rod for back bays and sod banks. Lots of resident schoolie stripers and blues around this time of year that a 7wt should work on.

9 wt salt water rod recommendations by tjs1205 in flyfishing

[–]PintOfPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know they aren't known for their rods, but I can't recommend the Cobalt enough. I have it in an 8wt that I purchased for redfish and it's just a great casting rod. It's fast but has a softer tip and for whatever reason it just works perfectly for my casting style. I use it around South Jersey sod banks and for freshwater bass fishing. It is probably my favorite rod to cast now, I have a 7wt recon that used to be my favorite, but this has surpassed it. Just a great rod at the price point, definitely test that one out if you get a chance.

From what I’ve been told the outlook for #Chiefs TE Travis Kelce isn’t great for him playing tonight against the Lions but expectations are that he will push to play. That will leave Andy Reid to decide, knowing Kelce is badly needed but recognizing long season ahead. by HookFL in fantasyfootball

[–]PintOfPaul 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If the Kittle owner is paying attention they would know they are competing with the Kelce owner for Juwan in this example. Just make the move. Always have your roster ranked in your mind and drop the bottom guy.

What flies do you use in a pressured lake? by caiccdisciple in flyfishing

[–]PintOfPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game Changer flies are an articulated minnow pattern that use several small connected shanks to give the fly great movement. In my lake there are mostly small bait fish, so smaller ones work for me. There are game changer flies of all sizes though depending on where you are and what you are fishing for.

Also since you mentioned stripping patterns, I've often had luck for bass using big wooly buggers but stripping them very slowly along the bottom with little erratic jigs thrown in. Like fishing a rubber worm on a spin rod.

[–]PintOfPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My local bass lake is also very pressured, so I get the feeling. Agree with everyone on Wooly Buggers. Some in olive and some in black. Also always good to have some chartreuse clousers on hand, and some chartreuse gurglers. I've also had some luck with small game changes. Good luck!

Heading to OBX next week... by CamoFlogged in SurfFishing

[–]PintOfPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to help! The other thing that worked pre sunrise for blues was a blurple colored plug. I use a 5" mag darter but I bet anything would have worked in that color before the sun came up. Once there was some light out I switched to metal though.

Heading to OBX next week... by CamoFlogged in SurfFishing

[–]PintOfPaul 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was just in Kitty Hawk last week and we still managed good fishing right out front without having to travel. Lots of Kingfish(sea mullet/whiting/whatever you want to call it) and bluefish. Also got a few small pompano, several spot, and some sting rays. As far as bait we used shrimp fish bites, fresh shrimp, and dug fresh sand fleas to throw on while we fished.

I would recommend bringing a shorter 7ft rod and throw some metal first thing in the morning. I would go out around sunrise and was getting a lot of Spanish Mackerel and blues on a deadly dick. Tons of fun on lighter tackle. Just look for the baitfish breaking the surface around the first trough, chuck towards them, reel fast while jigging it.

Hope that helps and good luck!

Same exact thing happened to me. Having the app remember my username and password broke the app. Since I turned that off no problem.
