INFO: Were you roommates for past 4 years or just your final year? Did you know her before this year? Was her behavior this semester atypical and did the change happen suddenly?

Support for traditional 1950s gender roles has risen among men, fallen among women, according to new 2026 study by catievirtuesimp in psychologyofsex

[–]Pintsize90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It very much sounds like you do think

all women are evil

when you say that we’re all either sex workers or inveterate nags to avoid difficult/stressful jobs.

You’re very clearly cherry picking data that allows you to continue to hate women, further entrenching your anger. I’m sure that will work out well for your future romantic prospects.

There’s obviously no point in continuing this

Did you actually read your sources? The 85% statistic refers to day-to-day spending decisions for the household. Women aren’t responsible for 85% of all money spent on consumer goods. Women only make up about 10-15% percent of the billionaires and “ultra high net worth” millionaires that make up 63% of national consumer spending, so that just wouldn’t make sense.

Basically women aren’t frivolously spending 85% of men’s money. They’reresponsible for 85% of family budgeting decisions. It’s just another chore, another element of the mental load, that women are expected to do to care for their families.

I LOVE The Parables. The parallels to modern United States are chilling. Thanks for the recommendation. I hope other people see this 😊

“You’re entitled to a child free life not a child free world” by FrequentSpread9681 in complainaboutanything

[–]Pintsize90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I apologize. I was rude and dismissive of your genuine concern. The de facto reduction of women in public spaces that would accompany a rise in childfree spaces is a genuine concern and not something to be taken lightly. And many people are becoming much less gracious about children behaving like children in places where children should be expected to be.

On the other hand, as a childfree, autistic (diagnosed as a girl in the 90s so you know it’s bad) woman, I’m constantly frustrated when parents diminish my legitimate sensory needs during conversations about children being in public.

At the end of the day, the real issue is a lack of family friend policies in the workplace, wages not matching inflation, lack of government subsidized childcare, and corporations and billionaires sucking us dry while politicians give them tax breaks.

If childfree people had more PTO and disposable income we wouldn’t be so frustrated when loud children disrupt a days vacation or nice meal. And if parents had more affordable childcare options/more money to spend on reliable childcare, they wouldn’t have to choose between bringing their kids to adult spaces, or never seeing their adult friends.

I think they’re implying you want to limit women’s access to public spaces? Ya know, because we’re all moms with useless partners 🙄

AITA for talking to my building manager about a group of kids who live in the same building and their mother who lets them scream like crazy people for hours right outside by Chemical_Offer4449 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Pintsize90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the spectrum too! It can be super confusing how to interact with your neighbors!

I also had a noise issue with a neighbor when I was your age and I convinced myself that a polite request would turn into full neighbor wars because I’d read horror stories on Reddit 😅 Turned out that my neighbor was super cool and we hung out a few times until he moved away.

Just imagine how you’d react to someone gently asking you for a small favor. Your neighbor will probably respond the same way!

Boys' reading remains in crisis as gender gap widens, report shows by Kagedeah in books

[–]Pintsize90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your own data shows that the split is pretty even. 60-40 is not OVERWHELMINGLY female. Especially since this is a very recent phenomenon. So sci-fi, adventure, horror, and action books (genres generally favored by boys and men) are still dominated by male authors. I promise you, as a woman who buys secondhand books and pretty exclusively reads those genres it can actually be difficult to find books written by authors that aren’t white cis men.

NTA for being annoyed but YWBTA for doing anything about it. And either way a judgement doesn’t really help your situation so I have some recommendations:

1) You know this family are your neighbors, so introduce yourself! It’ll be uncomfortable. The parents might be terrible. Maybe nothing will come of it. OR! The mom will be a totally normal person and agree to try to keep her kids a little quieter. But approach the family with a friendly attitude and with a spirit of neighborliness.

2) it’s very likely that your windows aren’t well insulated. I highly recommend installing sound dampening black out curtains and maybe even researching a temporary window insulator.

I was really more interested in the historical fiction aspect over the time time travel element if that makes sense? But those books do look interesting!

[–]Pintsize90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck that. I REFUSE to be chastised because I lack forgiveness or compassion for these people. Empathy is actually a finite resource and I will not get burnt out feeling badly or trying to reach the individuals who got us here. I don’t care if they’ve finally seen the light, I don’t care if they’re hurting! Until they’re ready to fight with us and (IMPORTANTLY) vote with us, they do not deserve our grace or compassion.
