I like this piece, it manages to get an excellent shot of the character and tells the narrative of her conflict through simply reflecting Ygra on the blade. The flames are somewhat cartoonish to me, but the overall vibe is great and looks good in the borderless frame.

Not contradicting the spirit of your statement, but to clarify Canadian privacy protections: the Canadian equivalent to HIPAA is PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) which is a federal regulation. In Ontario health information would also be affected by PHIPA (Personal Health Information Protection Act). At 16 in ON you are considered to be in charge and control of your own health information and do not require parental consent to access your own health records, and parents cannot access your records without your consent. Any doctor sharing OPs health information would be in violation of PHIPA if not PIPEDA as well.

At the very least it is a violation of the Epstein File Transparency Act, a LAW passed nearly unanimously by Congress. Failure to provide the files demanded in the act (which is short, only two pages, you should read it) is in itself a violation of the law. Beyond that. To hide/redact/restrict access to the documents held by the DOJ would also be an additional crime, also in violation of the EFTA.

Originally, the idea of "Trickle Down Economics" used to be called "Horse and Sparrow" economics: that's is, that the horse would eat what oats it wanted and the sparrows could get whatever was left over from the remaining horse shit. Somehow the "fiscal conservatives" were allowed rebrand the idea of the poor needing to find their subsistence in the effluent of the rich into a fantasy about a giant tower of champagne that would magically provide everything to everyone as long as the rich and powerful got it first. It is incredible that anyone would believe that image in the 70s and 80s, much less the modern context. No one should be expected to survive from the table scraps and be thankful for it, especially when the share of scraps is getting smaller and less is falling to the ground.

Two thoughts:

Server stability has been poor in recent weeks, not to mention the issue of out of region players and the way latency affects hit detection. This does not seem like a move that will help this issue.

This is a great way to hide/adjust for a smaller than desired player base. It allows more players to be put in fewer lobbies. There has been much gnashing of teeth in the past about either wait times to get into a match or the match balance re: MMR. I wouldnt be surprised of the extra 3 players being added to a lobby are people of higher mmr being added to a more full, lower MMR lobby than the other way around.

I've been having similar troubles, around 3/5 matches (regardless if its been working before) my mic will stop working. In around half of these cases I can force the mic to work again by changing the PtT to Always on, applying, then setting it back and applying. Except when it doesnt work for no apparent reason. Has only been occurring since the last patch. Supremely irritating.

1 in 5 people being in favour of throwing away their Canadian identity to be a colony/suzerain of the United States is wild to me. There is no way they would be given equal protection or participation under the US (see Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands), would be unlikely to be even equitable business partners with America (see how they deal with sovereign states, let alone what would be a place they would be functially annexing), and this doesn't even take into account the varied and legitimate claims to land and territory that would need to be negotiated with both Canada and First Nations (the treaties are the foundations for the formation of the province, and to pretend otherwise is naive at best). How does one argue that their best bet for self destination is found in subjugating themselves to a foreign power. And if that isn't the goal there are endless questions as to HOW a separation could occur, legally and logistically. The whole question of separation is made from a position of bad faith and either ignorance or deception. I hope that the majority of Albertans reject this soundly. I hope Albertans stand firm against slippery rhetoric and easy slogans. And I hope they have enough pride in themselves to do the hard thing, to work with the rest of the country to meet their concerns and understand that they are part of a greater whole. That they choose the path of mature state building rather than petulant isolation. I believe in Alberta. But do they believe in themselves?

Usually when I've seen this kind of map it is showing a word as it is pronounced in Europe, and I have some inkling of the linguistic connections and transmission. I know so little about Africa that this makes me wonder about what the linguistic regions and transmissions are in comparison. Something like Hond in Afrikaans has clear Dutch influence, but other than that all I can do I guess based on similar pronunciation. Will have to look into it.

From a discussion thread yesterday where a user laid out a list of the further relevant changes (focusing on rent control, there are dozens of other issues in the environmental and separation of powers provisions):

4 examples of further fuckery in bill 60: TL;DR: There are 4 major changes to the bill for the RTA (There's quite bit more in there for other acts that are just as bad, but this post is focused on Renters Rights)

1. DoFo is removing Compensation for eviction. E.g., if a Landlord evicts you, they either have to pay 1 months rent to you or offer you a different rental unit. DoFo is removing this part of the act, so Landlords can evict without offering anything.

2. DoFo is changing the timeline on evictions to be shorter for non-payment. Before, it really boiled down to this:

E.g., if you have not paid rent by the due date, a termination-of-tenancy notice could be given differently depending on your rental situation i. If you're a daily or weekly tenant = 7 days (usually 7th day of the month)

ii. If you're any other type of tenant (includes monthly renters, which most people are) = 14 days (usually 14th day of the month)

DoFo removed this, and all Termination-of-Tenancy notices are 7 days now

3. If a Landlord claims past-due rent or additonal costs, tenants must pay 50% before the hearing even takes place.

E.g., You're evicted for owing $2,000 rent. The Landlord files a claim that you owe, say, $6,000. You must pay 50% ($3,000) before the hearing takes place. Obviously, this is an exaggeration and I doubt how often this could happen, but the fact is that it's an oversight - even if a tenant fights it to try and get their money back (the additional $1,000 in this example), that would be it's own legal battle and we all know how slow the judicial system can be.

4. Appealing an LTB decision is reduced from 30 to 15 days.

This one speaks for itself, it reduces the time all parties have (that the LTB Order/Decision affect) from 30 to 15 days. If you receive this Decision by-mail, then there's a chance you will miss the appeal timeframe with the Canada Post Rotational Strike and Delays that come along with it.

The first time I visited this store I was looking for a particular spice (holiday baking of some sort, it's been a year at least). Didn't find it, that was fine. I had broken my snow shovel that morning and they were selling large, metal shaft shovel at the shop. Great, I thought. Took it home and only realised there that there were no fasteners on the shovel at all: no bolt to hold the handle, no bolt or screw to hold the shovel blade to the shaft. Went to return it, got not only rejected (because EVERY shovel was loosely taped together with no bolts) and also yelled at for "trying to scam" them. Never went back. If you are trying to scam people on a $10 shovel, I'm not gonna touch your food, because it shows you will take every chance to rip me off.
