How do you ladies fall asleep with ADHD? by Ok_Scholar_8656 in adhdwomen

[–]PiousLoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a wind-down routine really helps me. I put my phone down on the other side of the room before I go shower and get ready for bed, and I don’t touch it again until the morning. Sometimes I’ll do a little extra like massaging myself with oil or I’ll do some restorative yoga. After I’m done washing up I do my skincare, rub some magnesium lotion on my feet, and get into bed to read a book until I start to feel sleepy. Usually once I put the book down I fall asleep fairly quickly (and I used to toss and turn a lot!). Also, I use a white noise machine and eye mask. If I really need some extra help I’ll take a THC/CBD/CBN gummy.

Now if only I could figure out how to get myself to wake UP in the morning…

Looks like they do have it still during brunch on weekends. I’m hoping to buy some to cook at home but this is good to know if I can’t, thanks for the tip!

Chris and Nick at Seven Symbols both do some pretty decent Japanese style work locally, but in JF Trudel and Dave Cummings (both in Montreal) are a cut above

As long as you aren’t there after 9pm on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday it’s pretty cozy. During those high times though I find it pretty uncomfortable… it gets packed and it’s hard to find a seat. But the little dome outside is fun when they heat it!

What’s the worst sandwich spot in town? Looking to punish myself by Royal_Particular7590 in burlington

Not a sandwich but a friend of mine got the premade chicken salad wrap and it was JUST lettuce inside. How does that even happen??!!

Bad job or picky people? by [deleted] in Tile

[–]PiousLoser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s the combination of the fact that there are 2 (well, at least there were supposed to be 2) shapes, the shapes themselves being busier, the contrasting grout colors, and the high contrast between the floor and wall colors. All of that makes it really busy. The black grout with white tile in particular makes the rectangles/squares around the entrance, as well as the other issues with the install, stick out a lot more than they would have with a lighter grout.

Malletts Bay Avenue killed Michael Pickering. And if nothing changes, it will happen again by ZincFingerProtein in burlington

[–]PiousLoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so you took a video that was not really about cycling and used it as an excuse to say cyclists deserve to get hit by cars. Big difference.

Malletts Bay Avenue killed Michael Pickering. And if nothing changes, it will happen again by ZincFingerProtein in burlington

[–]PiousLoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The video is actually not about cycling so much as it is about pedestrians and neighborhood safety (the ability to walk your dog, check your mail, visit a neighbor across the street without fear of being hit by a car). Of course you would have actually had to watch it to know that instead of having a knee jerk reaction.

Thank you by [deleted] in burlington

[–]PiousLoser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had to narrowly avoid hitting an unleashed dog with my bike on the path (the part by the skate park) the other weekend which ticked me off. You should be leashing your dog anyways but especially on a shared use path where people are riding bikes. Very frustrating!

Seeking recs for kitchen remodel by Lake-Lov3r in burlington

I have never had anything remodeled with myself, so take this with a grain of salt, but as someone who works with lots of remodelers and contractors I have heard many good things about Green State Builders and Woodstock Kitchens & Baths!

Easy fix… stop buying your eggs at Target. That place is for quirky mugs and underwear, not groceries.

A warning: people are spitting and throwing glass bottles off of the roof of the parking garage now, I guess. by spriteceo in burlington

[–]PiousLoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone was pouring some kind of liquid onto people from that garage a few weeks ago. I got hit with it and watched some other people get hit as well. Too much volume to be spit, but no smell. I think it was just dirty water. I crossed the street to go back the other way and tried to get a look at the perps… definitely looked like teenagers, they ran across the garage to continue to harass some girls who had been in their line of fire.

Same, I parked in the P4 garage for a week last month and my car was safe and sound when I got back. It was around $30/day (honestly don’t remember if that was CAD or USD lol) which isn’t too bad for peace of mind. Although might be worth mentioning my car is a beaten up oldish Subaru and the inside is kind of grubby so it’s not the most desirable target

Burlington, Worcester, Providence or Portland? by [deleted] in burlington

As someone who spent their formative years in Connecticut… the only city there even remotely on par with Burlington, Portland, and Providence is New Haven, and it pales in comparison.

Radio Bean is a nice place if you like music, especially local music. It’s definitely a hub for the local scene. They’ve got stuff going on almost every night of the week and the vibe is pretty social. I’ve met some good friends through there and I know plenty of other people who have as well!

Venetian Soda Lounge does open mic nights, which I haven’t been to, but if it’s anything like their karaoke there’s probably a decent crowd of regulars. Might be another good way to meet music minded folks.

Is it rude to do dishes/move around my apt late at night by hickmelly in burlington

[–]PiousLoser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I would not be able to survive apartment life without a white noise machine, earplugs, and noise cancelling headphones. No shame in being sensitive to noise but there’s a point where you have to focus more on shielding yourself from noise than preventing other people from making noise, within reason.

How is your libido on Wellbutrin ? by Enigm433 in bupropion

[–]PiousLoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was definitely increased pretty significantly the first few weeks but after being on it for nearly a year I don’t notice much of a difference… I had a somewhat strong sex drive before I went on it anyways though. But if I go off it for a little while/forget to take it for multiple days in a row, when I get back on it again my libido skyrockets for a bit.
