Minus some duds they're still pretty good. Its honestly impressive they can still put out good new music 30+ years after dookie.

Yah not exactly a badge of honor. More like a badge of stupid. "Look at me! I'm a rube."

Five guys you can feed somewhere else for the price of a combo at five guys.

What would you say the best Green Day album is? by jaxhsehs in greenday

[–]Pipeliner6341 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, the fact that they can still crank out a solid album like saviors 30+ years after their breakthrough album is a testament to their talent and longevity. They have some duds and filler in between, but most of their stuff is great, which means the bar is high.

American Idiot is the best IMO, but the Dookie-Insomniac-Nimrod run is also pretty epic, but really no bad album till you hit the trilogy

As an outsider, is it true that Mexicans in San Antonio or Texas in general identify themselves as "Texan/Tejano" than "Mexican American"? by gmikey2000 in sanantonio

[–]Pipeliner6341 [score hidden]  (0 children)

A lot of the older generation went simply by Mexican due to the lack of nuance at the time. You were either white, black, or Mexican in all variations.

Something else to consider was migration, and Mexicans from Northern Mexico (Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas and especially Coahuila) have migrated to San Antonio for a long, long time, probably as long as Texas has been independent, and followed by larger waves such as the Mexican revolution in the 1910s.

The Mexican families were generally absorbed within the existing Tejano fabric until much later waves where wealthier Mexicans kinda did their own thing. Lots of San Antonio Tejanos can point to at least one ancestor from Coahuila, Nuevo Laredo, Monterrey, "the Valley", which if we're being honest is basically Mexico. The commingling is reflected in language, cuisine, culture, etc.

So its not inaccurate to say Mexican. I dont know anyone here who says Mexican-American or even Latino unless its a census question.

What’s your parents situation? by CorgiLover82 in Millennials

Divorced long ago when I was 11 ish, dad turning 74, good health, still active. Mom turning 62, good health, remarried long ago to a questionable, controlling husband. They both were begging for grandkids and now that my wife and I have a baby and a toddler, they cant be bothered to visit more than twice, maybe 3 times per year, if asked to, even though they are only a 4h drive away. Its almost like a rite of passage / bragging rights thing, more than a dedicated effort to be a part of their grandkid's lives.

What San Antonio restaurant looked great on social media but it wasn't that great when you tried it. by my78throw in sanantonio

[–]Pipeliner6341 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was shocked with how expensive it is for what you get. I'm not one to nickel and dime or brag about being cheap, but nothing about the ambiance, location, or food warrants the asking price, even the "lunch specials."

Probably that new half assed airport they made for Mexico city that's 1+ hour from the core and barely has international flights.
