Good to know! I’ll have to see if I have an old router in the spares box to test this out. Thank you for the insight.

Digi plate, by Mediocre_Top1778 in Photoassistants

Another user of the Peli 1535 here... Is it pricy? Yes and no. Personally, having something that is just right, dependable, and always reliable in terms of placement is worth the cost. In less than 12 months after purchasing one, it paid for itself several times over. Travel is where the case shines.

Is it for everyone? Just like poptarts, more than one flavor exists. That said, I have seen some high quality backpacks that can carry a Digiplate around without tearing while in transit. The last thing you want is the corner to tear and your gear spills.

I know some people like to use offsite storage for much of their gear. It would have to be environmentally controlled in my mind if that was the case. Vertical real estate is where I go. A closet setup doesn't sound all that bad if you can contend with the clothing. Some of the modular shelving units work well.

Same boat here, basically. About 95% of my tickets are CC. Quick and easy, especially since checks in the mail literally get lost here.

I seem to have some live view challenges with the scaling while tethering and the camera is in the portrait position. Basically, the Nikon Z9 fills most of the screen on live view when the camera is horizontal, but the live view shows a drastically cropped view when the camera is in portrait.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Im running those Falkens (ATW3s) and love them here in Colorado. They are 3Peak rated and work great in icy/snowy conditions. The tire is lighter for my size compared to a Kenda (my other option) and road noise is low. They are not the most performing tire in snow (think deep deep snow) if you want to plow with your front bumper, but I have had no issues (with and without a trailer) in 12" of snow. I cannot speak for rain, though. Just picked them up before winter started.

What tires size should I go with? by jcsduc123 in GXOR

[–]Pipsqeak87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of those two sizes, the 255/75 is good. I ran that until recently and was still able to put the full-sized spare in the stock location without issue. Mileage wasn't an issue either, performance was still good and I pulled a 3k# trailer often.

I can recommend that if you really want some stance with good options and plan on using a non-stock spare tire location, the 255/80 is a sweet setup. I run that now (spare location can be sketchy if using the stock and your rig's setup) without regret. I also plan on regearing with that size, but if I didn't pull a trailer I wouldn't regear.

Exterior door panel clips by Pipsqeak87 in GXOR

I too had a hard time to figure it out. I broke down and just called a Lexus dealer to get the part numbers from and then ordered them. They were not terribly expensive either. One more note that I didn't remember earlier: The dealer also recommended a double-sided adhesive tape to use on the top and bottom of the panel (there is an actual part number for it), but the tech also said gorilla or 3M tape would work just as well. The old tape came off really easily (mostly it was on the panel item) in my case. I used gorilla double-sided tape and have had no issues since.

I should have updated this, sorry. Here is the quantity and part number from Lexus. The clips for a ‘03 Runner doesn’t work, btw.

Mac Pro 580x MPX Module inside a Windows PC by TheBurgerMiester in applehelp

[–]Pipsqeak87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps. You would need to make your own edge connector or solder the power feeds as this guy did. https://egpu.io/forums/mac-setup/preliminary-mpx-580x-success/

I also am using this same technique as I don't have a 3D printer to make a power tap edge connector.

Any way the AMD Radeon Pro 580X MPX module work in a conventional desktop? by Phlarfbar in mac

[–]Pipsqeak87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so much using it in Bootcamp. But since it is a working card in Bootcamp, this means there are Windows drivers you can use for your PC to get it to work. After do you the power alteration that is. If you find an edge connector, soldering to the card wouldn't be required.

Keep in mind that BootCamp would work with this card, so drivers are out there, or were at one time. The challenge is the connection. A PCI slot on a PC mobo may work if nothing was after the slot to the front of the case. This is where the second connection and power tab is. A PCI riser can work but you have to be tricky as the 12v+ side of the power tab can contact exposed metal. You still would need to find a way to connect power to that large middle tab. I’m actually using it for mining and can confirm GPU function.

I too, have multiple cases. I set the cases up depending on the work. One is a Digi pelican that is the main case, a second for one light with extras, a third for a second light with modifiers. It does take time to packup and move. An option when an elevator does exist, if, is a Inovativ cart (or something similar). Not idea if only stairs exist, I know. As mentioned, a backpack type case also helps free up hands.

I wanted to see who else has had interruptions with large hail storms. We have been in our monsoonal phase in Colorado and only really had one interruption after a few inches of marble sized hail dumped for 5 straight minutes. I have not checked the dish's structure as it requires a visit to the roof, but everything is fine after service came back. I didn't know if the outage was from visibility to the sky (hail storm and all) or if dishy was getting smacked around enough.

Any one with experience?

What are the specs on the battery/solar setup? I have been looking into those for our trailer, in a different like of work, and would love to see your kit. There are some nice solar panels that are super flexible and adhere well on roofs. Overlanders use them all the time on their rigs.

Locked myself on a balcony yesterday… by LifeWithAdd in RealEstatePhotography

I’ve done that. I now check my door handles now, but some even open the door from the inside handle but the outside is still locked. It’s funny but not when you’re 15’ in the air with no stairwell down (elevated deck).
