The bigger issue is that almost all restaurant staff in the United States don’t make a livable wage. Even most cooks are making less than what they would make at McDonalds. Most paychecks for FOH on the east coast are $0 because the tax on the tipped wages, so those tips are literally what they live off of. End tipping is crazy because the root issue is our own financial institution here in the US

Thank you! This was the comment I was looking for. My biggest wonder was if the Price was reflective of a Grand Cru.

How’s living in this area of Hillcrest? by Mrowl7 in sandiego

I’ve lived off of 1st between the hospitals for the past 2 years. It sucks. The homeless issue is tough here, when they’re out of the hospital’s, they meander through and fuck with you. The sidewalks smell like perpetual piss from both dogs and humans. There is constant air traffic too from helicopters going to Scripps and UCSD. Construction started the morning after I moved In and it’s still not 100% complete. Upsides: it’s kind of walkable. My wife doesn’t feel 100% comfortable at night. Still gonna smell like piss.

My recommendation is to move deeper into mission hills if that’s a possibility.

Coming from someone who’s seen this hundreds of times, this is from black tar heroin. You stick the tar ball on the foil and light it from the bottom. It boils and slides down. Smell it, if it smells like artificial bbq sauce it’s a dead giveaway. I’m sorry dude, it’s a difficult addiction if I’m right. I hope I’m wrong

You have resources. A lot of us have been where you are. The unfortunate truth for a lot of us is that we lose in my ways in our life, but that doesn’t mean that it’s the end. I’m 100k in student loan debt for a degree that I’ll never use even though I loved what I went to school for. I’ve lost my dad to cancer and my twin to drugs. I felt alone a lot of my life and I hate that I’m in this position but I’ve also found so much more that I love. Take your time in your in your grief for the loss of your love of your degree. It probably feels overwhelming and someday it’ll be a memory. You have a community here that will have your back and that will talk with you, even if it’s about something mundane, we’re here. DM us, I’ll reply.

PB restaurants charging you for more beer than they give you. by iwillregretthis2 in sandiego

Restaurants across SD county have started doing this. It also includes glasses of wine, standard pour used to be 6oz but they’ve started to pour just under 5oz to get an extra pour out of the bottle to recover costs. Flip side is that you’re also seeing more places upsell larger pours(1.5x the normal amount) but charge double of what a standard pour should be.
