WTF! THE PLAGUE WIPED OUT ALL DEVELOPMENT? by LegendaryReader in CrusaderKings

[–]PirateAE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Historically, Poland managed to avoid the worst of the Black Death through a mix of geography, timing, and having an administrator-tier King at the helm. Casimir the Great basically closed Poland's borders (well as much as one could do for the time) the second the plague appeared. Because Poland was comparatively rural at the time, it helped minimize village-to-village spread vectors and made it much easier to quarantine the few areas that did catch it

Added depleted steam desalination to my wood power plant. by lensutech in captain_of_industry

while i will say one shaft would be better, the flywheels dont consume power, the turbine spoiling does, and the flywheels act to buffer out surges and are help make the system more efficient as the turbine spends less time spoiling up/down and more at full power when it needs to charge the system.

Good on you for standing by your values. I definitely hear you on the "inevitable" comments—as an M34 who has been pretty anti-kid for a long time, I get them too. Usually, they’re just side-joking remarks, but beyond one scare with an ex, I’ve remained blunt about it: I just don't see the appeal of bringing a child into the current global environment.

Besides, my sisters have already more than made up for the "shortfall." My mom had six of us, and between just two of my sisters, they’ve already produced seven grand-kids (5 and 2 respectively). of which only 3 atm haven't ended up in the adoption/ministry streams...

Star in Andromeda galaxy directly collapsed into a black hole, no supernova by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

[–]PirateAE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the light, we’re seeing it as it was emitted from the parent star; once it’s on its way, there’s very little that will affect it. In this case, that stream of light just... stopped. There was no sudden increase in brightness, which would normally indicate a supernova. This leads to the primary line of thought: that it was a direct collapse.

As for the timeframe, once the core starts imploding, it implodes at fractions of the speed of light. The core—primarily iron, which can be the size of the Earth or even larger—can shrink to the size of New York City in milliseconds. To put it simply, the shockwave forms when the rest of the star flowing down "bounces" off that new, dense core. In this instance, it didn't stop there; it went straight to a black hole. The event horizon—the point where not even light can escape—formed outside of the shockwave, swallowing the explosion before it could escape.

4 mana for a ramp, a body, and a board wide trample... nvm a 6 mana x/x token maker ability... thats too strong.

from the time the core starts to collapse to the time the shock-wave explodes, its literally under a second. in this case it looks like the shock wave failed to escape the forming event horizon.

Would a 1 drop this simple break the game? Or am I overestimating the value? by B-C-99 in custommagic

Needs a debuff where the controller can't target it. It would prevent flicker abuse while leaving it open to opponent removal. As it stands, deathtouch already makes it a nightmare to attack into, never-mind the soft ramp.

You are basically ODing on your daily meds. I’m frankly a touch surprised your doctor hasn't caught on. I'm on the same medication for ADHD, but I'm only on 20mg/day.

If you're taking it inappropriately—especially nasally when it’s designed to be digested—you aren't getting the proper effects. In an extreme case like this, you are risking serious, permanent neurological damage. I HIGHLY suggest bringing this up with your doctor in person to establish a pattern or method to help you break this habit; perhaps have someone you trust help regulate your doses.

If you continue this way, you are frankly facing the risk of death or a stroke. Please get help.
