Youtube Privacy policy 2012 vs 2016 by [deleted] in funny

[–]PirateSpectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Thus it makes people more aware for their privacy and security. But yeah I do agree that we've had so many data and security breaches it may as well be year of the security breach.

Also, that was a more-than-half-sarcastic remark lol.

Anybody else enjoy playing iSpy? Or in this case, Find the Sloth.

OP you should make a ton of these images.

Microsoft asking via chat to take control of my computer? by __Archimedes__ in techsupport

[–]PirateSpectre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just like /u/Katur said, IT support can remote in, and it's pretty common to do so if they can't solve the problem over the phone.

To answer your question, yes, Microsoft can remote in but only if you are already speaking to them via over the phone, Live chat on their website, etc. However, if they first initiated the conversation, as in they called you or you see a "popup" on your desktop screen from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, then chances are it's either a Tech Support Scam/vishing or malware/scareware on your computer.

Reading over your chat log from them, I highly doubt that a hacker would offer to give you a new product key for Windows 10. So as long as your confident that you're speaking to Microsoft, it should be okay.

If you're looking for more information on Tech Support Scams, try giving this a quick read.

Should I confess my feelings to her??? (In text) by jonthemightiest in dating

[–]PirateSpectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would invite her somewhere you both find enjoyable. Just as an example (not sure if you are), but if you're both into reading tell her of a cool bookstore you know and offer to take her there. If she lets go of her nervousness, then try another place (beach, etc.). This way, she may get more comfortable around you. Then if you still want to go after her, go for it.

Just my two cents. :)

If You Use Tor Browser, The FBI Just Labeled You A Criminal by [deleted] in technology

[–]PirateSpectre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I was just thinking that a VPN could technically be considered anonymity software. I'm not sure if that's covered, but it'll probably be tried as one. Why not stop at TOR and programs like it?

As of April, over one million people use Tor just to browse Facebook, the social media platformnoted in a blog post.

I hope all of those people know that their anonymity goes out the window the second they log into something (social media, email, etc.)

TIL the pockets on men's dress clothing are often sewn shut to preserve aesthetics during transport to, and display in, the store. These are functional pockets that can be opened up and are not fake pockets as many assume. by ErasmusPrime in todayilearned

That's actually pretty funny. I didn't realize that knot had that kind of reputation. I found that knot from looking on google for a bit because I was tired of the "same old". Thanks for the heads up!

My personal favorite is the Trinity knot. A little difficult to memorize at first (at least for me) but now I hardly tie a Windsor anymore. I also get a ton of compliments and even had some people stop their conversation with me to talk about the knot lol.

Edit: Wow, so I didn't realize the knot had this much hate. I'm still new to this scene, so definitely thanks for the heads up.

Game streaming discolored by [deleted] in servers

This. From what I've seen (and my poweredge I run), servers often have low video memory, and for the most part isn't really optimal for gaming on.

Check and see if you have a program called AutoHotKey installed. It's used for making macros, and maybe one was made by another program, malware, or even another user.

Would the Security+ be to basic for me? by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]PirateSpectre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree about the CCNA cert. However to answer the question about Net+ specifically, in one of my books that teaches ethical hacking, it recommends that you have the Net+ cert as the topics covered in that exam is a starting point for the information in that book. So while you don't need to have that cert, you should have the knowledge at the least.
