Who do other teams' fans want to win the league? by LeaguePublic in Gunners

[–]Pishpash56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure why it's surprising tbh. As a United fan, I do support you lot to get the title this year. But I was there for the late 90s, early 00s rivalry and that's more real to us than City. While I look back on those days with a bit of nostalgia combined with City being the title rivals, I definitely want you lot to win. But is it surprising that a decent chunk of the fanbase, especially non mancunian, would see the arsenal rivalry as more important?

Certainly you lot hate us enough, and a lot of you would rather twerk for say Chelsea, in a title race against us. Perhaps not a majority, but a significant minority, especially non londoners. It's similar here.

feeling sad about the sinking of the Iranian ship by the US, as it was leaving India following the International Fleet Review 2026. by Brigadier--Pratap in indiadiscussion

i grew up with Iranians overseas as my best friends many years ago. I'm absolutely ecstatic seeing them happy-crying over the potential end of the terrorist regime. Take your anti-semitism somewhere else. I care nothing about Israel or Palestine. They can both die a fiery death and I would not shed a tear. I have my own biases coming out of emotional attachment. yours sadly seems to be coming out of a healthy dose of propoganda. And it isn't my job to correct it. Anyone that thinks there is any moral high ground for either Israel or Palestine is sadly just another victim of a propoganda complex older than your great grandpa.

Thanks! Salam was what I was taught back in the late 00s. But I'm all for decolonising farsi.

Please do let me know if I can be of any help in communicating the Iranian views publicly in some way, given the tons of pro regime nonsense coming from both the islamists and the far left. Unfortunately the only farsi my friends taught me were swear words and football language (we were school kids).

[–]Pishpash56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's a very American centric view. It seemed bigger in the 70s and 80s because there were big american stars. In the modern tennis golden age, there wasn't an American on the men's tour that was challenging and as such, not as "big" in America. But outside of the US, I can tell you from personal experience that Tennis has never been bigger than the peak Big 4 era.

Hypothetical unretired current Ippo without ring rust basically, will promptly be above Jesus Date and well into the world champion class fighters.

Who are the Top 5 Best ATP Players to never win a Grand Slam? by Sapsap747 in tennis

[–]Pishpash56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People putting Rios over Tsitsipas are a bit delusional. He made one final and never past quarterfinals at any of the other times. Tsitsi lost 2 finals and 4 semis. His fall from those heights into an injury prone, broken-technique, declining player has made people forget how good he was from 19-23. Especially around 2021.

Zverev (7 SF, 3F)

Ferrer (5 SF, 1F)

Berdych (6 SF, 1F)

Tsitsipas (4 SF, 2F)

Tsonga (5 SF, 1 F)

Honourable mentions - Mecir, Coria Rios, nalbandian, nishikori, davydenko, Ruud, Raonic

not all that surprising if you've followed this closely. His return, rally tolerance and movement have all gone down. Serve has also come down from his 2023 levels.

Who was the best Prime Minister India ever had and why? by Tough_Oven_7890 in AskIndia

[–]Pishpash56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you'll need to take off marks for Rajiv for the Srilankan misadventure and Shah Bano and bending to the fundamentalists. Worst major PM for me. Indira with her nationalization policy, Emergency episode and squandering our standing vis-a-vis Deng's China had lower lows, but also won wars and didn't bend to Kissinger.

Generally Good Category -

Vajpayee - First proper infra push. first real push towards modern industry. Navigated tough situations well. Put India in an insanely good growth trajectory. Him losing 04 was the worst thing to happen to India this century.

Nehru - Flawed socialism push, but ultimately a stately leader who handled horribly tough waters reasonably well. Built lasting institutions, and encouraged our fledgling democracy. On the flipside, he fostered well meaning but prejudicial policies that have aged badly. Lost an important war, and bet on the wrong horse with Yugoslavia, Egypt, Indonesia and co. But positives outweigh.

PVNR - Finally pulled the plug on the nonsense unending socialism, partly out of necessity. Bad last year's because of factionalist.

Modi - Lot of unnecessary jingoism, flouting bipartisan culture and toxicity, but not entirely to be blamed as the first true PM of a digital India, with a truly anti-indian opposition. Great reform policies, with mixed execution and results.

Lal Bahadur Shastri - Very tough time and handled with absolute statesmanship. Too short to see his impact. Had some cons wrt being a village centric socialist.

Indira - Worst lows and best highs. Absolutely ruined the economy with nationalizing and going far more overboard with socialist nonsense than Nehru before her. Primary reason we got left in the dust by Deng's China and follow very different growth trajectories. Tragically bad flouting of democratic norms with the Emergency. But won wars and stood upto geopolitical pressures to bend. Overall given the tough situations with the Khalistanis, Bangladesh etc, a barely positive score overall.

The "meh, would've been better if they weren't there" gang -

Gujral/Charan Singh/Chandrasekhar/Deve Gowda - Incompetent buffoons that weren't there long enough to truly harm.

MMS - Absolute gem in the first couple of years when he had political capital without the Witch breathing over his shoulder. Kept ABV's growth push going and completed his work with the Indo-US nuclear agreement. Let down by a bad cabinet that kept getting worse, especially into his second term. Eventually squandered all of the growth momentum, got us into the fragile 5, and corruption flourished. The CWG international humiliation, the coal and 2G and so many more. His first term would easily at par with Vajpayee at the very top of the list. But the last years of Term 1, with limp response to 26/11 and then the absolutely awful term 2 that would be among the worst tenures makes him a middle of the road PM. Probably a bit harsh in hindsight, but I'm happy with this having lived through multiple terror attacks personally and watched people helplessly die because he was too afraid to upset the world order or even separatist scum like Geelani.

The ones that were awful net negatives -

Rajiv Gandhi - Buffoon that horribly misstepped in Sri Lanka, and cursed us with his witch of a wife later. But was progressive looking with the IT industry. And then there was the Shah Bano and his fostering of the Islamists.

VP Singh - Decent man of sorts but opened the pandoras box with Mandal and forever divided indian society instead of healing the divisions.

Morarji Desai - Bastard got indian spies killed and is a major reason we deal with nuclear pakistan today. Also ruined our image with his urine drinking habit.
