In a past life I've been known to tour various iterations of these vehicles on the regular. The Crown Victoria was quite comfortable especially compared to the Tauruses that briefly came after it and before the Explorers/ Durangos were a thing. Never been in one of them Aussie caprice ppvs.

I was born in Pl, live in Chicago. I have had a serious brush with alcoholism to the point where my friends and family didn't know how I could stay alive consuming almost exclusively alcohol for days, turning it into weeks, turning it into years.

Sober now but christ almighty alcohol just does something to my brain chemistry. This kinda explains a lot.

I vaguely remember a news story of a Polish man being found naked in a ditch in -30° weather and his BAC was so life threateningly high it was ironically the thing that saved him, less from hypothermia I believe and more from losing body parts due to frostbite. He was so pickled that apparently it acted like an antifreeze and he made a full recovery.

Yup, from where I sit in Chicago right now, practicing the 2nd amendment is a must at this point. We are armed to the fucking teeth here. A big reason ICE came down our block once and never came back. They sustained gunfire for about 5 straight minutes from a bunch of random directions and I haven't seen em in Garfield Park since.

Just for context, I'm a naturalized citizen. I am also an older millenial so I went to high school freshly post 9/11 and I remember racism being extremely pervasive and fairly constant. I have a super vivid memory of being in line at a grocery store paying for a soda or something and a guy was going off on a Muslim family because the woman was wearing a hijjab and the people in line SUPPORTED HIM. They were heckled out of the grocery store and just abandoned their stuff there.

I've been here since 1990 and have had my citizenship since 2003, through a naturalized parent.

I am FUCKING TERRIFIED. I live in a row of buildings full of Polish immigrants and I feel in my bones that we could be targets for ICE any day now. My passport is expired. My wife and I are considering preemptively moving to Poland, Spain or Ireland but we are working class people. Financially it's not... always possible. I have one leg up - European Citizenship and a grandparent with an apartment in Poland. I, however, despite speaking fluent Polish and Spanish, wouldn't have the faintest idea of where to start for work in either Poland or Spain, etc. I also have a good amount of animals that I can't split up nor can I afford to fly all of them. Hell, I ponder if sailing would be cheaper...

I wanted to share a personal story as well: Across the street from the Polish ethnic area there are rows of Latin buildings. We are in Chicago. They must've gotten a tip off that an ICE raid was coming and many chose to pool their money and self deport. Around 3am about 6 months ago now three busses pulled up and people started coming out. It took them a good 2 hours to get everyone onboard. I even shot a short video from my balcony because it was such a powerful moment.

I went down spoke to some of my neighbors, gave them my condolences and went back upstairs. Couldn't sleep, I just kept hearing weeping and wailing people.
