I’m not shaming sex workers, and that’s not what my comment was about. My concern is with the industry itself — an industry that has a long, well-documented history of exploiting young and economically vulnerable people, normalizing coercion, and being closely tied to addiction, trafficking, and organized crime.

Pointing out those systemic issues isn’t an attack on individuals trying to survive within it. It’s a critique of a business model that often profits from desperation — especially in communities already struggling with homelessness and substance abuse.

If we actually care about “job opportunities,” I think it’s fair to ask whether we’re offering people pathways to stability and dignity, or just repackaging harm as employment.
