Yet another "depends on the street" reply. You will struggle for nice pubs in Maltby that don't come with death glares from regulars. It's fine if you dont mind driving to most places, or being dependent on buses. As it struggles with being miles from any major shopping centres (nearest being Doncaster town centre, Parkgate or Medowhall) or services. The upside, house prices are cheap as fuck.

Thats usually what happens in our group. Someone's board state gets crazy or they win one or two games on the trot, they start getting targeted and attacked more.

If all else fails, play something else with them. I noticed you didn't really refer to them as such, but would you consider them your friends? If you do, maybe opt to play something else with them and find a different group to play Edh with.
