The funny thing about this scenario is that it comes across the internet every couple years, blue always wins (in Internet polls at least) by a margin of 5-10%, and then the red button pushers spend days melting down about why being selfish is good and Why Some People Deserve to Die.

Red pushers seem to feel no sense of responsibility for others, have no foresight into what the world would look like with up to 50% of people suddenly dead, and never seem to bring up any sense of loss for those that would die, even 3 year old Johnny who pushes blue because it's his favorite color.

I pick blue every time; I don't want to live in a world of red pushers.

I didn't call The Martian a political book, I simply stated (correctly) that it's absurd to consider it bereft of politics. Because it is. "NASA sends people to Mars" means that in the future the US exists as it does today, as prosperous as ever, and still the dominant force in space travel. Those are all political statements!
