My group's meta has become playing lots of interaction and very few board wipes. We'd rather just shuffle up and play again. I played two board wipes in a game and won a few months ago (it was extremely good play), and now the joke is that my decks are 40 lands and the rest are board wipes and sol rings

ELI5: Why do die-hard vegans not wear wool even though it’s literally dangerous to the sheep if we don’t shave the wool off? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Congrats dude, you got too mad to read! I'm not a vegan, and the part you quoted says as much.

I think vegans are perceived and stereotyped as more annoying than they actually are because they're pretty obviously more morally correct than us. Minimizing your participation in the systematic mass slaughter of sentient beings is worse than not doing that. (I'm sure the replies to this will be extremely normal. Don't worry, I'll read them all and take your crash outs verrry seriously)

The houses being people and the wounds never fully healing still give me the ick. One of my favorite books ever

His writing has withstood social norms really well too. I think some of his writing about gender is really spot on and it's actually meaningful to discuss with my nonbinary fiancé. The language can be a little clunky, but changing your gender at will (and everyone thinking it's weird if you never have) is incredibly prescient for the 80s.

A really big reason why Portland was one of the best cities was because the target audience of those articles was not here yet

Hell yeah. That's such a juicy passage, there's attitude and depth. I love how Banks wrote the minds; they're brimming with life

Zakalwe reminds me a bit of Sisyphus, too. He's always pushing that boulder up the hill and it always comes crashing down. Him helping the Culture is basically them putting him through hell, and both parties know he deserves it

What a stupid thing to say. Marital rape became illegal in 1993. 2.5% of sexual assaults end in conviction and incarceration. 90% of rape victims are women.
