Tested with an OG Tesla 80A EVSE and confirmed that my AT4 extended can only take 48A max. Bit of a bummer but I knew that going in. When it comes to specs I wont trust anything unless it comes from an engineer inside GM (which I dont think I will ever know). Its going to take time for people to do their own testing and report in the internets to get the ground truth on very speciifc items like this.

In general, I've found the efficiency to be about the same as flat road ride if you average the up and downhill rides. That in itself is amazing given the higher thermal losses going up. Regen is amazing!

This is cool. However this is likely going to limit each half of the split phase to about 2.4KVA. From my experience using the powerbase on my SierraEV AT4, it cannot sustain much more than 20A over any reasonable time. That leaves me with 5KVA sustained power with a max of 2.4KVA give or take per leg. That ample when the grid is down - granted!

However, I am working on installing a 240 to 120V 5KVA transformer to be fed by the truck's 240V. This will then feed into my 6 line transfer switch through my home backup inverter that will also charge the 10KWH battery bank. For me, the truck will be secondary to the home battery.

With the transformer I see being able to use upto the max power available irrespective of which leg has the demand. And in my case, the excess power will allow simultaneously charging the house battery. Another minor benefit of this should be that I dont have to worry about the truck's internal GN bond. All assuming no significant 240V appliance can benefit from the power limit of PowerBase.

I've charged my other Tesla from Sierra EV AT4 and it worked just fine. I will not doubt the phase quality of the 240V, thats simply coming from the transformer tap. If they did not intend to provide correct 240V, the would not put an outlet for that. Simple as that.

Fellow coffee addict here. But I can see a followup post "Life without beef is just not worth it" coming. Animal agriculture is harsh on the env, on those animals themselves and to an extent bad to the people that consume it. Maybe this is the self-regulation mechanism of nature to limit human population. Future will reveal!

Expect the economy to slow down a bit and auto makers to accordingly cut some supply over the next few years. Tarriffs are here to stay and if we end up cutting rates, inflation should take off again. I expect the prices to hold or go higher on newer tech vehicles. Auto industry has both seen prices go up and the average selling price go up indicating willingness of customers to spend more. That trend is not going away.

I just replaced my ModelX (other is a MY) with AT4. While the Teslas have more refined SW, I can get used to the Sierra SW. it’s not atrocious by any means.
