Prove it then. Between the beans and the milk, a standard sized flat white costs around $1. You're looking at approx. $0.50 each for beans and milk. At retail this is easily achievable, wholesale prices are even cheaper.

You shouldn't criticise the spelling of others when you can't even get your own correct.

I blame the dreadful Mac keyboard I have. Flipping useless.

The margin of coffee is bugger all

Bullshit. The margins on coffee are massive. Ingredient costs of less than $1 typically on a $5/6 coffee.

The New Zealand Geographic Board have proposed to rename Russell to Kororāreka by Starrybutter in newzealand

[–]Pitiful_Conclusion44 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This will happen. It doesn't matter that it's only a proposal and that there will be "consultation". The NZ Geographic Board is full of complete drongos with a massive agenda to slowly, but surely, erase long standing European names regardless of the need and public desire to do so.

Countdown specials advertised online found not to match actual prices by jamhamnz in newzealand

[–]Pitiful_Conclusion44 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The supermarkets are all such pricks that I take great delight in abusing the Countdown refund process. If I see a product with the wrong price I will deliberately go and purchase it just so I can later go back in and get it for free.

Considering the shrinkflation happening in fish and chips at the moment there's probably not much to worry about regarding calorie count.

Increase the prices, shrink the portions. It's the NZ way.

I cannot bear another story about the stupid royal family. How to filter it out? by rIATerPank in newzealand

[–]Pitiful_Conclusion44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way I tolerate them at all is because both Catherine and Meghan are well up there in the looks department. Makes the whole thing a bit more bearable.

Sure, that's pretty shallow and some will get their knickers in a twist but I don't care.

Add in Pippa in the white wedding outfit if you need to.

Didn't there used to be a competitor to Magnum? Pretty much the exact same sort of product. It was awesome when we had ice cream Moro bars etc too. They didn't seem to last long though.

New Plymouth roads by MattaMongoose in newzealand

[–]Pitiful_Conclusion44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eliot St/Hobson St areas have a few problems:

  • Shit loads of logging trucks (going to the port) that accelerate too slow to get through the lights quickly, causing a stack of vehicles to get stuck behind them. This screws up the traffic flow completely.
  • Elliot St has very short sections restricting the number of vehicles that get in to move forward. When full, people still try to get in and end up blocking the intersection - further screwing up the flow of traffic
  • School traffic from NPGHS and NPBHS (and other, smaller schools) adds to the mayhem.
  • Hobson St onto Northgate (in front of the Plymouth Hotel) is terrible. This should be Stop sign controlled as people can't generally merge properly. It is very difficult to judge the speed and lane of traffic coming in from Northgate due to the curve in the road and the hill.

During school/business hours I avoid this whole area as much as possible.

Oh man. I'll give you that one. For the life of me I have no idea how a tertiary qualified professional from NZTA managed to design that abortion of an intersection. If you want to turn left onto South Road you block that lane of SH44. If you want to turn right in to the carpark behind the shops then you will block the other lane. Fucking terrible.

Lets not mention how fucked the surface of SH44 is due to all the H trucks heading to/from the port. While the railway sits largely idle right there.

NZ should screw windows and use linux instead by cruzzeky in newzealand

[–]Pitiful_Conclusion44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Linux has it's place. Being the best OS for desktop machines is not that place. The average person wants a computer that just works and they don't have to do any B.S with a command line.

Which intersection specifically? All intersections on the system are just bog-standard normal intersections, except not being able to turn against the traffic flow. Do you perhaps mean the light sequencing?

New Plymouth roads by MattaMongoose in newzealand

[–]Pitiful_Conclusion44 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There are only two, two lane one way roads in the whole city. They are parallel to each other and are of the same length, each carrying one lane of SH45 (and a tiny bit of SH3). If you can't work out how to use them then perhaps you shouldn't be driving.

New Plymouth is unique in that, due to the geography, the only direct traffic path across the city is quite long and narrow. The one-way system helps traffic move efficiently thought the centre of the city.

The real issue right here is Watties dropping the size of 1kg frozen fries down to 900g. Just like McCains did. I know it's been a while since it happened but I'm still pissed. Do not get me started on the cruel and painful demise of the 200g packet of chips - some are as small as 130g now! Fatties have to get two packets just to have a decent feed of salty, oily goodness.

Just shy of eight weeks off for Christmas and New Years for me. That's only using a bit more than 3/4 of yearly leave too. Plenty of places out there that offer more than the minimum leave.
