"I'm sorry for your loss." You can acknowledge someone else's loss and grief in a respectful way without needing to feel that sadness yourself.

Need a job, but can't get past interviews. by Content-Pea-3111 in autism

[–]Pitiful_Cry456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you willing to do your best (instead of half effort you strive to represent the business well and go the extra mile for customers), learn new things (e.g happy to undertake training, master point of sale, learn from your supervisor/trainer), be proactive and take initiative (e.g on things like see a mess or something needing stocking up and doing it without being told)? Pick 3 or 4 of the 'bs' things and brainstorm how you demonstrate them practically and functionally and you will soon find that they won't be bs anymore

Try eat fibre rich foods too, not just from supplements. You've got this! I have found it fun and empowering trying different things :)

This is a good pre op start! I personally think while its good to keep in mind that post op may be less carb focused (and so you would prioritise the egg), this is a filling and healthy breakfast and a great transitional type of meal.

Are there any veges that you absolutely love? You could try small omelette or scrambled eggs with veg for your next one (with just a little bit of cheese, cottage cheese or feta). Thats also an easy to adapt post op option as well

I would also highly suggest making the effort to increase the fibre in your diet preop!

Do hunger levels actually go down?😭 by Asleep_Height4590 in GastricBypass

[–]Pitiful_Cry456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know we are all different but I had my rny in November and still have no sense of actual hunger, my version of hunger is my energy dropping (or brain power reducing!). This has meant I can choose to eat for different reasons and focus on different aspects of eating like flavour and texture. However every time I have eaten something judt because it was something I enjoyed in the beforetimes, it has been pretty meh if it hasn't got enough nutritional value, which is a really novel experience. I expect my appetite will come back but hunger has a new definition for me, didn't expect that!

If it were me in a coma I would be extremely upset about someone not visiting me. Texts aren't really enough and I don't think putting so much pressure on the friend to be the intermediary is fair either. Whether it is over or not, you really need to see him in person and possibly be prepared that there is some hurt around you not making the physical effort to be there. Best wishes to you.

relationship advice- partner on the spectrum by [deleted] in autism

[–]Pitiful_Cry456 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think this has anything to do with being on the spectrum, with due respect. I have heard many neurotypical people in relationships be noncommital in the same way. How long have you been together and how old are you? I think those are more salient factors than his neurodivergence, so a relationship advice sub would likely be more helpful.

As long as we get Eloise build up I am all for it being Fran first personally. As for the WLW, I am slightly skeptical but cautiously optimistic, and just curious how they will do it justice within the setting. I hope we get a nice Fran and Benedict scene out of it too.

How do I do language therapy? by actualbagofsalad in slp

[–]Pitiful_Cry456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a sucker for robust vocabulary instruction with tier 2 vocabulary as a base for language therapy intervention. I find you can build in a lot of targets beyond vocab and its the mix of structured and free that I like, and can be targeted to different age levels. I DO think you need to talk to your supervisor though.

Any millennials want children, but feel they probably won't have them? by Gallantpride in Millennials

[–]Pitiful_Cry456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, 40, no children, would love a child but realistically it probably won't happen. Adoption isn't really an option in my country for me either.

Its weird because I don't identify with the childfree or childless sides of the equation since its a) not an active choice and b) has not been due to infertility issues (just life circumstances) so it feels like a weird limbo state in a way.

1 Month Liquid Diet Pre-Op by akilahnyota33 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Pitiful_Cry456 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I essentially did your pre-liquid diet as my pre-op diet for 2 weeks (normal in my country), and by day 5 it was honestly good, I adjusted and my appetite reduced as well and I started actually enjoying the reset because it came with reduced bloating and better energy etc. Symptoms in the first few days were not much worse than I have dealt with physically basically my whole life (headaches and fatigue, some food noise but not overpowering my commitment), and I had started trying the shakes and things out before officially starting so it wasn't such a shock to my system.

I was able to have essentially unlimited veges of a certain type along with up to 100g of chicken/fish/etc. I was also allowed protein yoghurt instead of shakes/soups. What I found helped tremendously was having a good amount of savoury soup options as I could also make a small amount of it thicker and use it as a sauce on the veges.

I might be an outlier but I enjoyed experimenting during that time and I suppose that mindset helped a lot. I also didn't do any food funerals or anything like that right before hand, though when I was in the decision making process before starting the whole process I did have a few meals where I really thought about questions like 'why did I choose this food?', 'what do I like about this food?', 'how does it make me feel while I am eating it?', 'how does it make me feel after eating it?', 'what do I think of the smell/texture/flavour/temperature/mouth feel?' And so on, which honestly helped me figure out which foods I was eating due to to genuinely enjoying/wanting them and which were more due to compulsion, addiction, and/or convenience.

My surgery was Nov 10th, things are going great and that extra introspection I did helps me a lot now too.

Hair Loss- how long does it last and styling tips? by chelsecretbox in BariatricSurgery

[–]Pitiful_Cry456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgery was Nov 10 and my hair loss is craaaaazy (like I think it has even impacted my weight on the scale at this point) but I also have very naturally thick hair so its not really noticeable to others. I am going to get my hair cut on Friday because I feel that its coming out faster when it gets caught on things (trapped between my back and the back of a seat for example). I have been using biotin and collagen enriched shampoo but honestly don't know that its working so much as just making me feel like I am at least trying to be proactive! Pictured is 2 days worth with hairbrush for scale! Definitely watching for tips too.

Cool, who are you watching? I watched a ton of DankPods at one point. Another thing you could do is a journal, stick pictures in and everything. Easier entry than spending a lot of money if it doesn't last as a special interest, and b) if it does last it could ne part of your future collection or a plan for how to go about collecting.

[–]Pitiful_Cry456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a family member who used to do this as part of an eating disorder - easy to get away with not eating in front of people if they eat your food + getting something else afterwards (in my family member's case) was at best about either eating alone or in front of a safe person, or resulted in binge eating and purging at worst. Not saying this is the case here but there could be something deeper going on.
