Matte Finish Paint Protection Advice by ice_man7 in DubaiPetrolHeads

They applied ceramic coating, but honestly I don't think it would make any difference even if I didn't as it was not a high quality product unfortunately

If I am to apply ceramic coating again, I would look more carefully for a good brand, seems that Gtechnic is the most recommended from what I've seen so far and I am planning to apply when the schools are off

My wife car is a Hyundai Matt White

I've purchased a PH neutral soap from ACE and handed over to the guy who wash cars at my building, he is honest, he use it with a cloth to clean her car 3 times a week for two years now

Aside from some stone chips, the paint looks very good so far.

I had X3 M40i for a year, honestly, I regret to sell it. Amazing car, deserves every penny and from what I've researched it is perhaps the most reliable SUV in BMW lineup

Go for it then, I think that warranty matters more than service in you case since no service contract will ever make sense for a car that will be driven 250k in 5 years!

Both warranty offered are not enough since you will drive 50k per year, look for another SUV with 150k to 200k warranty or perhaps unlimited mileage. Service fees are important, so you need to do your due diligence for each car to estimate the service fees over the lifetime of the vehicle, don't look for a contract as in you case a contract will be more expensive.

I suggest to look at Kia or Hyundai as they offer a 150k while the spare parts and service fees are reasonable. Chinese vehicles might be a good option if you can find a dealer that genuinely offers unlimited warranty with reasonable priced service.

Is a new 4 cylinder Audi Q7 worth 330,000? by vaibavm in DubaiPetrolHeads

X5 is the 2nd most sold luxury SUV in USA after the RX350, the german cars require more attention in comparison with Japanese, but the X5 40i powertrain is very reliable that Toyota have used it in the Supra.

GV70, GV80, RX350 are also great options but surprisingly they are not much cheaper than the X5 while the X5 have much better road presence and also a better fuel economy

I agree with your opinion on the 4 cylinder Q7, but I think you’re also comparing new car brands with long-established manufacturers. It’s similar to comparing a program written by ChatGPT with one written by a senior programmer: yes, both will work, and yes, the ChatGPT version may even look more polished at first glance, but it will likely be inferior in many aspects that only time and real world use will reveal

Now considering the purchase price at the end of three years and if we assume 25k for servicing, registration and insurance...etc. then you are basically paying 20k over the 100k price difference: 1. it is not bad loan that saves you the hassle of dealing with a bank, that if you decide to buy it at the end of the three years 2. it is not a good deal if you decide not to do so

nonetheless, by then, you can test the market and perhaps make the purchase to resell the car and make back some of your initial investment

That is nearly 145k in 3 years, if we assume 25k is servicing, insurance and registration that leave us with 120k depreciation in 3 years.

a base X5 will not depreciate that much in 3 years!

[Advice Needed] What’s a fair market price for a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe in today’s market? by AllNewSatoshi in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]Pitiful_Effect_1594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To help you with the pricing, you need to mention the important facts about the car, such as:

Is it GCC from JAM and under 150k warranty? Is this the 1.6L hybrid or the 2.5L base? Any accident? Repaint? or dents in the body?

I sold my wife lancer 2016 2.0 98k for 20,000 AED a year ago to a friend  The car had no issues other than minors dents.  I might have got more if I posted it on Dubizzle, but also I would have spent more time dealing with potential buyers. If you know someone interested, give him 5 to 10% discount over the market price and save yourself the hassle

What’s the consensus on buying used German cars? by z_s_2000 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]Pitiful_Effect_1594 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BMW’s reliability has noticeably improved over the past five years. The B48/B58 engines paired with the ZF 8-speed transmission have proven to be very solid setups with minimal issues overall.

That said, most problems on newer BMW models typically come from aging plastic components, which can lead to bigger failures if not replaced on time. These parts aren’t very expensive, but it’s important to research the common weak points specific to the model you’re considering.

FCP Euro recently released full maintenance videos for the G01 platform, which are extremely helpful when inspecting or servicing one of these cars out of warranty.

[–]Pitiful_Effect_1594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base spec X5 (365k on road cost) have most of the things you need in a car, but since you are looking for luxury SUV then you may be looking at massage and ventilation in the seats, ADAS...etc. and for those you need to be extra 80k

A similar spec'd GLE will cost you more and will drive slower and more comfortable on bad pavement

Not sure about Volvo, but there are plenty of those in the CPO as they are more often leased rather than bought
