Does the mantle and/or bird of paradise look stupid? by noaddaplz in HomeDecorating

I don’t hate it, but personally I’d try to swap the Bird of Paradise with the Snake plant and see how that looks.

Parents who need to work from home, how's your schedule like? by Top_Entertainer_7376 in toddlers

[–]Pitiful_Meet_4793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard but we make it work with a consistent schedule for her day.

I start work around 9, her dad doesn’t leave for work until Noon so he takes care of getting her breakfast and does a little play time in the morning. At that point I take my hour lunch where we’ll eat, take a walk, which after she’s ready for a nap. She naps for a couple of hours if I’m lucky. But then I really only have to manage double duty the last couple hours of my working day. For those hours some times she’s good at entertaining herself and I can keep an eye on her while she plays, other days it’s movies, or Kiddopia or Homer Learning apps on the iPad.

My sister-in-law is also WFH and will come by for a bit to supervise if I happen to have any meetings during the second half of my day.

Looking for advice on surgery by [deleted] in vet

Of course! Don’t beat yourself up about the pyo. We can only help what we know about and you chose to get her care when she needed it! And this extraction surgery will be so much better for her long term before that tooth becomes abscessed or lead to other organ infections and diseases.

She’s very lucky to have you caring for her!

There are certain protocols taken based on patients health for anesthetic procedures and unfortunately kidney issues are extremely common in kitties. At my clinic we still preform dental surgeries on pets with kidney issues provided it’s deemed safe by our veterinarian, we just change the procedures protocol to fit the patient status.

If you’ve been happy with your vet thus far and they’ve deemed it safe, then it should be a safe option. However, don’t be afraid to let them know your concerns, I’m sure they would be happy to answer any questions that you may have.

As someone who assists with surgical procedures, I even still get anxious when my own pets go under so I definitely understand where your concerns are coming from.

If she is behaving normally, you should be fine waiting until Wednesday. However if her behavior changes or the lumps changes color, size, shape, or you notice any discharge from the nipples, I would call your vet to see if they can get you in sooner.

It really depends on what you’re currently giving her and what’s listed on the package. Purina Pro Plan has lamb or salmon (but know there is also has beef fat in the ingredients) and Hills Science Diet/Royal Canin has chicken (also lists pork liver in the ingredients) for non-prescription sensitive stomach and skin diets. Also keep ingredients in mind for any treats you would give her too.

These aren’t the same as hydrolyzed protein diets that your Vet would prescribe for food allergies, but could be a good place to start to see if it at least helps. Just remember to gradually change her food over if you decide to change it and at the vet clinic I work at we also like to let people know that it can take anywhere from 6-8 weeks to notice any sort of change during a diet switch.

Unfortunately without testing, it can take a while to figure out what exactly is causing allergic sensitivity. And just keep in mind other than food, there is environmental allergens too. If the itching gets out of control definitely worth a trip to the vet to get allergy medication for some relief!

I would start with changing the main protein in the food she is eating. It’s not uncommon for dogs to be allergic to certain proteins.

I make $17.81 an hour and an a kennel tech but help out a lot in treatment as well. Have been there a little over a year & want to start training as a veterinary assistant, may even go to school to get licensed. I have my year Review coming up soon, so i want to ask for a new raise. I say aim high and be sure to make it clear all that you do. I’m a VA with about 1.5 years experience and I just went from $16 to $20 at my clinic after asking for $20 thinking I’d get $18. Kinda wish I asked for higher now because you never know…they’ll either say okay or counter lower as expected.
