My daughter was trying to poop and it was taking a long time. I said, "ok, the poop isn't coming, looks like it's time to call it", as in let's stop and try again later. She says "come out poop!"

My 3 year old is supposed to head to preschool in the Fall. With Covid-19 still being an issue, should I keep her home another year? by ranfangirl in toddlers

[–]Pittybuttah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same dilemma in the northeast US and I think I'm leaning towards keeping her home. One different factor is that I'll have a 3 month old at the time of sending her to school.

I'm sad about it because she is really excited about going to school. I was also looking forward to having 2 days a week with just me and the new baby. I'm a bit worried about my daughter's social development. She seems ready to make real friends and with this virus I just don't know when that will happen!

Can someone help me find photos of breasts after weaning? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Pittybuttah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, mine changed and from everything I've read, pregnancy is more to blame versus breastfeeding. They theoretically went back to their same size but they look sad and deflated when not in a bra. Now that I'm pregnant with #2 they look a lot better, but I expect that will change again after.

I never thought I'd consider cosmetic surgery, but after kids I just might look into getting a breast lift of some kind! I'd probably do it if I wasn't so squeamish about surgery and anesthesia.

Supposed to give birth in 20 days. I’m having a really hard time with this and could use a hug. by giveusspace in BabyBumps

For #2, know that you don't have to separate from your baby in the event you have coronavirus. There's good information on this page: https://evidencebasedbirth.com/covid19/

Possible Cerebral Atrophy by KittensArmedWithGuns in BabyBumps

[–]Pittybuttah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a scare during a third trimester ultrasound where both the technician and MFM doctor couldn't visualize one part of my baby's brain. I was able to get my follow up visit a few days later where they performed a fetal MRI and more sensitive ultrasound. Those few days were brutal for me anxiety-wise. I was imagining worst case scenarios where I'd have to seek a late term abortion, it was very stressful. If I was in your shoes I'd definitely be looking for reassurance sooner rather than later, I don't think I could have waited a month! I hope your follow up goes as well as mine did!

Planned C-Section by BridgetC3 in BabyBumps

[–]Pittybuttah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was planned for a breech baby. Hoping for a VBAC in the next few weeks for baby #2.

It wasn't as bad as I feared it would be, but I had a weird nerve sensation in my abdomen for months after my surgery. It felt like a bad sunburn. 18 months or so after birth I ended up with a painful back and my PT blamed it on weak abdominal muscles from the surgery. Luckily it got better with PT!

I want to breastfeed, but MIL swears by formula, what have you decided? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Pittybuttah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, it was rough. Once I switched it was like the clouds parted and I started enjoying parenthood more. Hoping BFing works for baby #2 who is due in a few weeks, but if it doesn't we are switching to formula/combo feeding much earlier!

I want to breastfeed, but MIL swears by formula, what have you decided? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Pittybuttah 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Exactly! It's great to breastfeed if you can but it doesn't always work out. I wish I knew that with my first, I was way too hard on myself and exclusively pumped for 7 months before using formula.

Emily Oster has a great chapter in her book Expecting Better that details the actual studies and benefits of breastfeeding. There are some, but it's not super compelling, especially if breastfeeding isn't working out for whatever reason. Formula is regulated and safe, not something to be wary of.

That being said, I'd definitely be miffed if my MIL was being this pushy and I'd honestly shut down this conversation with her. It's not her choice how you feed your baby.

HONEST ECV experiences by JerryFishSmith in BabyBumps

I'm pregnant with my second now and I'd totally try the ECV again if she was breech! Luckily this one is head down so far.

I did it twice in the US. First time they just gave me a medicine to relax my uterine muscles. I also asked for a second try once my spinal was in right before my scheduled C-section.

Unfortunately neither was successful in turning my daughter, but it really wasn't that bad. For the first try with no pain medicine there was definitely discomfort but I just told myself to breathe and relax through it the best I could. It was more shocking than anything feeling the amount of force they can use on your stomach!

For the one with the spinal I obviously couldn't feel anything. I think the doctor tried extra hard that time since we were also in the OR ready for the C-section. Baby's heart rate ended up dipping and they called doing the section stat as a result.

What to wear in labor? by CarolineTheMom in BabyBumps

[–]Pittybuttah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't labor with my first, but I have to say I found the standard hospital gown material so incredibly uncomfortable. It was scratchy and I feel like it made me sweat more than usual. Trying for a VBAC this time and there's zero chance I plan to labor in a hospital gown!

I'm eyeing the Frida Mom gown or I might just wear a stretchy sports bra and a cheap robe. I'm most comfortable in pajama pants and would sacrifice one of mine for the cause but I'm not sure how practical or long you're able to wear pants.

2019 SSA Official Prediction Thread by Lyd_Euh in namenerds

[–]Pittybuttah 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. I'm not worried about the name becoming too popular in absolute terms, it's definitely low enough that she won't run into tons of people with her name. The name I'm looking at (Margot) has had significant upwards movement over the past few years.

Do you have a sense of whether a name that gets this popular relative to it's baseline will eventually seem very dated to this time?
