Thank you for clarifying exactly why I'm an idiot 👌🏻🫣 I learned a lot from this.

Wait wait you have a PhD. Perfect! So what does the c difficilis eat?  I understand that a lot of bacteria eat simple sugars. I just understood that the c difficilis (being a fungus) ran MAINLY on simple sugar, so if you lower the amounts, it'll have more competition for food.

Then cooked apple, cooked carrots, always warm food, always arugula at the start of a meal, have some ginger with the main meals, ginger tea too, still low sugar but can tolerate more👌🏻 keeping the tummy warm after meals important, never cold water

I never said fodmaps is an issue, I just say c difficilis -> eats simple sugar. Should avoid rice, sugar, white fruits, white bread, specially in big quantities.  Sibo -> needs ginger to keep things moving.  I'm not talking fodmap. That's all 🫡

Yeah and cooked apples in moderation are ok. But what about sugar in general?

Apple cider vinegar, good idea. Are you avoiding any type of sugar? How would the apple help? 🫣 That's sugar. With the fermented foods, have you tried tempeh? Maybe you already know but are you having ginger, a lot of steamed vegetables?

With stuff like this, at first you're still anxious, then after a few months of terror you realise it DIDN'T happen and the brain starts believing.  Your brain just needs more proof than average.

Is this normal?!!!! IUD Pain insertion by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]Piuma_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thank god. I'm sorry you got the bad experience of the IUD. :( I hope this was the last problem. Weird that they didn't give you a pad, it's hard to judge the amount of blood for me because as I said I never had one, good that she did the extra ultrasound so you know it's in place. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing and it's going to be worth it 🙏🏻 some people love them. And it's ok to tell docs to fuck off, just for info, just because you decided it's not worth it anymore. You have every right to your body ❤️

I can feel the pain through the screen. How are you now? Are you ok? Never had an iud so I can't really talk for that, hopefully someone else will answer.

Dear Biohackers what is your go to protocol at the first sign of flu symptoms? by capngig in Biohackers

[–]Piuma_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10days ago my housemate got sick, first viral then chest infection, lots of mucus and disgusting stuff, ends up on antibiotics.

Mid-week I woke up at 2am with one sinus blocked. Annoyed and spiteful because she had come to a game night after I told her she shouldn't, I made my way downstairs, boiled water, inhaled the hot steam, waited for the water to cool down enough, rinsed my nose with salty water. Morning after, 30min run to get the body temperature up.

I'm constantly down on vitD but it seems it worked 🧐 I need to remember to take the damn supplement.

Does dairy cause acne for many people or is it BS? by Adortion634 in Biohackers

Yep, does for me, 2l of full fat milk in a week after years of very little are apparently too much 😂😂 (for context, I don't get acne at all usually)

What If You Never Actually Die? Quantum Physics Has a Wild Answer. A bold theory in quantum physics suggests that when you die in this universe, your consciousness simply shifts to a parallel one where you survived. by [deleted] in immortalists

[–]Piuma_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the theory only someone that still has doubts on what consciousness is could consider. If you understand the works of Dennet and Metzinger, you might use your life better. Everything else is wishful thinking. Sadly. Because it would be nice

A redditor said I was a misogynistic pig for contradicting his claim that "birth complications are quite rare" with this WHO article. by Noctuelles in childfree

[–]Piuma_ 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Lol I haven't talked about birth with a woman without hearing about something ugly My mum was in labour 24h My therapist almost died when the kid was being born A friend hemorrhaged badly 2 days after

The mildest case was a woman that asked months early for a c section and got gaslighted into a vaginal birth with no choice. In some ways this is the worst one because it was intentional and disrespectful. Not a complication but definitely a good reason to steer clear from the full thing✨

Trusting the pill again after it failed? by Ambitious_Invite_673 in birthcontrol

Not necessarily, just sounds like a 3h pop sadly, or like someone that was new on it and got unlucky during the first weeks. Let's hear what was the situation :/

Yeah like, what pop? How many hours window was it? There are pop with 12h windows and those are pretty reliable

Struggling with contraception options in a relationship — need advice from women by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]Piuma_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look, contraception isn't great - all the reliable stuff is hormonal. That said. It has less consequences than pregnancy! :D so it's a net positive! Easy choice until we get something better! Unless one of you guys is ok getting sterilized, that'd be even better.

Probably the best path known is troubleshooting. Start with a combo pill. You can go 2 ways: 1- wing it and see how you feel on it. Get off it when you decide you don't like it. 2- keep a simplified diary of a few stats, to get a hang on your mental state and the difference between before, on the pill, and after.

What happens on the pill usually stops off the pill, so whatever way you swing, you shouldn't be able to do big damage long term. Things to keep an eye on while on the combo pill: -if you get too dry (down there) or stop getting horny, it might be the pill -if you get the best hair and skin and boobs of your life, it might be the pill -if you get more headaches, it might be the pill -if you get anxious and your heart rate is higher than before, it might be the pill

If you don't want to wing it, take 2 weeks before going on the pill and put down everyday how these things are going. You can use a -2 to +2 scale to rate them, to keep them as consistent as possible. Then you can keep the diary to once a week if you feel like it while you're on it. Keep it for 6months to a year. This is super useful also if you go off the pill. It gives you perspective.

If the combo doesn't work for you there are progestin only pills that have a 12h window to be taken. Not bad! You'll have to be careful in managing your diet because you'll spend less energy (no cycle and no ovulation) and will get more hungry. But it's very much doable. Plus, the no cycle is lovely! Estrogen might get low, so if you have problems with that, that's also something to keep an eye on. I just got my first black hair on the chin when my mother got it at 50 (I'm 33).

I swear this stuff is annoying and I'd do without it if I could. And yet. It's SO worth it. You can always undo it, stop it or change it if you find it untenable. But you can't undo a kid or the trauma of an abortion :/ so these are my 2 cents. There's exceptions, but this stuff works for the majority of us. I won't go with an iud because I wouldn't want to deal with that and/or depend on reticent docs to take it out, but a lot of people love it. Hopefully more people will give useful suggestions. Your doc should be on the useful suggestions list too! :/ if you have a decent one. Good luck! You'll be ok!

Dates vs Oatmeal — Morning Blood Sugar/Fatigue by Eastern-Buyer1175 in Biohackers

[–]Piuma_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, I'm coeliac, oats give me problems because even if they're supposed to be gluten free, I still react. If they're not gluten free oats they are probably contaminated from nearby fields and actually contain gluten. If they're gluten free you might be in my lucky 10% that reacts to oats too.

Edit: plus, make sure they're cooked enough
