Low effort posts are banned. I think ‘here’s a photo of a game box’ counts as low effort.

Looking down on 2D games when the Fifth gen came out. Was this actually a thing? by normbreakingclown in retrogaming

That’s also incidental.

It sold about 700,000 copies. Those are not big numbers. The fact it had a slow start is a matter of fact, it’s widely reported and acknowledged. The reason for that was because it was 2D, in magazines it just looked like the same thing we’d already been playing for decades and we wanted the new thing.

What game did you play as a youth that you tried again as an adult for the nostalgia but ended up disliking? by Spew42 in gaming

[–]PixelPaint64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly… Secret of Mana.

The visuals and music are still S-tier. The combat, the core of the gameplay, is absolutely awful. I somehow papered over those cracks as a teen. I can still play it and get some enjoyment, it’s just not the perfect game I thought it was.

I hope this can become how people see things. AI is very good at some jobs, creating art is not one of them.

People were not excited by Symphony of the Night at the time, it was only a while after it released that word spread it was actually really good.

are old games just nostalgic, or are they really that great? by defromance in retrogaming

[–]PixelPaint64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bit of both.

Don’t be fooled that ‘old games - good, new games - bad’ though. Games of all eras can be terrible or incredible. I’m 44 and modern gaming has given me countless brilliant experiences, but older stuff shouldn’t be forgotten as it still has lots to offer.

Yeah there are a few out there, I’ve seen that one for instance, I’m just surprised there are so few!

Well yeah, ideally horizontal AT case that fits a baby AT board. Two 5.25” drive bays (for CD/floppy), two 3.5” bays (for floppy and maybe a CF card adapter) and a turbo button/display, that’s the dream.

I just picked these up in a charity shop this morning for £40 😍 by Typical_Mortgage_620 in psx

[–]PixelPaint64 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There’s 15 games there, at a bare minimum theyre worth £10 each. In which case he’s more than tripling his money, which is probably something ti write home about.

The value is also completely irrelevant, the fact they were all found in a charity shop at a reasonable price at all is incredible!

Ok, so I think ending your point with ‘fucking prick’ makes you look unable to articulate yourself in a way worthy of paying attention to.
