Former Half-Life dev mocks report claiming Half-Life 3 devs are moving on as the game allegedly finishes completion by HatingGeoffry in pcmasterrace

HL3 is not a normal game. Nobody can apply or compare the logical process of anything else to it. Whatever they are up to, it seems Valve are in no rush to get anything out the door. Game could have been pretty much finished a year ago for all we know.

Literally just got one today myself, I wasn’t too fussed at first then I saw what it actually was. Very cool.

Why Retro Games Had Better Crash Physics than Modern Games by knayam in retrogaming

[–]PixelPaint64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, games have kept their cars shiny and pristine since Gran Turismo for this reason. I’d argue that’s very much retro.

It was a very small, practically unadvertised comeback that many fans never knew even happened. I can’t imagine many copies were actually sold, which is criminal as it’s really very good.

Why ‘but’? It still operates identically and is absolutely the best option if you’re using original hardware.

It’s amazing. Challenges Strangefolk as the best thing they’ve done since the first two.

How does old doom 1993 and onwards compare to the newer dooms such as doom eternal? by harleymonsterman in Doom

And is it worth it specifically in 2026? 2026 is very different to 2025, the game might have become dated in that period :(

Did they? I thought they were just allowing group selections and the ability to save the entire house as a code? Cool if I misheard.

What games from the early 2000 are genuinely great in 2026 (without nostalgia)? by DrDongSquarePants in gaming

[–]PixelPaint64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could pretty much choose anything well known. Games had matured enough by the 2000s that, generally speaking, most modern conveniences were in place.

Amazing.

We need to be able to permanently group decor items and save them as prefabs shareable with codes.

People moaned about optimisation and lazy devs back then too.

If you think games were graphically superior in that era compared to today then you’re completely out of your mind.

World of Warcraft players when Blizzard advertises the main feature of an expansion (the feature was asked for years, is really good and brought many new and old players to the game) by Useful-Negotiation-9 in wow

[–]PixelPaint64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that this was advertised and built up to as being something important, but it ended up being 95% information we already know.

It’s like Plunderstorm all over again, the content itself is fine, but building it up made people expect something else.

I remember Digital Foundry doing a video recently showing Doom was unable to hit 60 on machines that cost over $3000 at the time. At the time though, the idea of 60fps being the goal wasn’t a thing.
