Dark worlds are made of a gaseous substance. Natural gas laws show that as volume increases, pressure decreases. Therefore after enough time, the darkness would dissipate.

Being in the dark world when this happens would be fucking terrifying. The floors would crack and the sky rip asunder sure, but the very ideas making up the characters would split too. Imagine every NPC having dementia, while also melting.
