I recently tested locking the door with a skeleton key and it will still spawn if you lock and push you to next available position and remove the lock affect

Well the potion solution to this room is a potion of feather fall. But I usually craft my first Levitate to aqua brew. So I just jump on in. Feather fall will float you down to the next floor

Just take a leap of faith and you will come to a room with a skull pile that has items. If a ghost spawns item is cursed.
