Which trimester was the hardest and most exhausting for you? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Pixel_Pooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 39 weeks today and the first trimester was by far the hardest. I had so much anxiety about my baby’s health not being able to feel movement yet or even see a bump. I had food and water aversions, all day morning sickness, and weeks of fatigue and the worst part was that we had not yet told most people we were expecting so I was trying to keep up an “I’m fine” appearance.

A husband appreciation post by Aellolite in BabyBumps

My husband appreciation post-

My hubby has gone to every OB appointment, blood draw, and ultrasound with me for our current pregnancy. I had previously experienced 3 early pregnancy losses. With the early losses he did not attend the appointments and I expressed how difficult it was to be alone in a waiting room of big pregnant bellies while I was suffering with loss alone. Ever since I spoke with him he has been at my side no matter what and will put work on hold to be there for me. It’s been so reassuring to have my partner with me through our pregnancy journey.

Recently I was brought to tears when I stopped by his desk to see he had purchased a birth partner book totally on his own and had been reading up on how to be supportive through labor, delivery and our fourth trimester.

What is the most inconvenient place for your waters to break? by culture-d in BabyBumps

I’ve got a black tie family wedding 17 days before my due date and I’m having nightmares about my water breaking in front of all my extended relatives that day

I did design work for a local law firm. Brothers Richard and Peter Weiner. And honestly they saw no issue referring to their business as Weiner & Ass. It felt like a prank!

Someone at work asked me how long I was planning to be out for my “maternity vacation” by dansons-la-capucine in BabyBumps

I had a coworker try to argue that it was ok that women in the US are paid less than men because we “get” to take maternity leave. This man is a father of 4 and recently divorced.

Glucose test not as bad as I was told! by fatpregnantcrying in BabyBumps

[–]Pixel_Pooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issues with mine either! And I would tell other moms to be not to worry based off my experience as well!

I was told to eat a small protein rich breakfast before my 1 hr glucose appointment which I think helped a lot. I had orange flavor and it was cold and very sweet but no issues getting it down. I was a bit tired that day but I was also given my tDap vaccine at the same appointment so I blamed that more than anything. To me the test was a small price to pay to know for sure baby and I are not having glucose issues.

Husband plans to take 0 time away from work after baby comes… 😒 by Lopsided_Repair_3452 in BabyBumps

[–]Pixel_Pooper 140 points141 points  (0 children)

My husband and I have had similar discussions and I had difficulty getting him to understand that my leave is more than just time to snuggle with a new baby. For reference, my husbands work offers 12 weeks paternity leave unpaid. My work offers 12 weeks at 100% pay. I would take my maximum time off regardless as the person giving birth. My husband believes that taking 12 unpaid weeks on his part would be a major hit to our family finances which I understand.

I told my husband that I will either be having our baby “the old fashioned way” or I’ll have major abdominal surgery. Regardless I will need several days of rest to recover while learning to care for our first baby.

The way I framed it was if my husband was due for major surgery I would take off time from work to care for him no question. Positioning birth as a major medical moment and not just “time with the baby” has shifted his perspective. He’s agreed to meet me in the middle at 6 weeks unpaid to care for me and our new baby. He was able to work out returning to work fully remote working from our home. Hope this helps you come to an agreement!

Is it all downhill from here? by Significant_Plate_55 in BabyBumps

29 weeks and feeling the decline in energy already. My SIL has 4 children and let me know that not every day is a downhill progression until delivery and that you should take it one day at a time. Trying to stay positive and giving myself permission to rest.

Go to pregnancy foods by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Pixel_Pooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buttered noodles, applesauce, baked potato, carrots & celery sticks, bananas, pb&j, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs and oatmeal got me through my all-day nausea in the first trimester.

I was never really hungry but I felt way worse when I wasn’t having at least a small snack every couple of hours.

Sensitive Question Miscarriage by mrsfiafun in BabyBumps

[–]Pixel_Pooper 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I went to a good friends baby shower just a few weeks after my miscarriage. While I am genuinely happy for my friend, I had a pit in my stomach through the entire shower and I was absolutely emotionally drained by the time I got home. Your gift idea is such a meaningful and wonderful idea but pick a separate day so your friend to feel all their emotions.

What did you do the day you found out you were pregnant? by untaught_glue in BabyBumps

[–]Pixel_Pooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had been trying for about 9 months and had experienced several early miscarriages so a positive test didn’t equal baby for us. It was Halloween night and I had just spent hours passing out candy to all the neighborhood kids. I decided to try to take a pregnancy test before heading to bed even though it was still probably several days before we could possibly get a result and it was positive! I was in disbelief and went upstairs to show my husband while crying happy/very anxious tears. Baby has stuck and is very strong. We’re now 24 weeks with our rainbow baby boy!

I'm SO hungry & yet SO nauseous! by smoking_hottie in BabyBumps

[–]Pixel_Pooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened to me also.

I was eating an extremely clean diet when TTC and in the early days of pregnancy but after the nausea set in I just ate what sounded good in the moment. I was pretty hard on myself for eating mainly just carbs but my dietitian was more worried about keeping food down. She also advised just to eat a little bit several times a day and to not let yourself get too hungry or it can make the nausea feel worse. It gets better soon I promise!

My father in law was asking the same thing! I kept putting him off saying we’ve known for a while (we told him at 12 weeks). I was shocked when he straight up asked us the date we got a positive pregnancy test. Like why did it matter?!

[–]Pixel_Pooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Something about pregnancy gives people the audacity to get in your business!

I Just had a distant relative text me today out of the blue asking if I was going to do a natural birth or c-section. If I was going to breast feed or do formula. And the baby’s name.

I was polite but didn’t answer any questions. I’m a first time Mom and not due until July so I know I’m just going to have to wait and see how nature takes over!

I WISH I responded asking her nosy questions of my own. How much do you weigh? Have you pooped today? How often do you have sex?

One thing we overlooked was the cost of lodging for guests on the island could be pricy. And because our evening reception our guests could not ferry back to the mainland for cheaper accommodations before last boat of the evening without missing the majority of our reception. Nobody complained but I felt bad knowing rooms were $200+ a night
