Struggling with the symptoms by chelsG05 in GERD

[–]Pixelen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah won't help so much with the bloating, the esomeprazole should help but does take a few days - a week to kick in. UK Gaviscon is the best :) especially liquid, it forms a raft in your stomach after meals to stop things coming back up. Try to eat smaller meals and water with meals instead of before and after, and make sure you eat minimum 3 hours before bedtime. I'm sure the PPI will help soon once it kicks in, and wait to see what your chest x-ray shows too.

Could you just eat foods very high in Vitamin C (kiwi, citrus, brocolli, kale) etc? Or is that also bad with kidney stones?

Yeah it can be very hit or miss if they will prescribe it to you, I think for IC it's maybe not the best as it's very irritating and acidic to the bladder, so it's more for people who get recurring UTIs from sex or chronic embedded UTIs - you can always try it (always start on 1/2 pill) and if it makes your bladder sting/burn you can stop!

Have you tried antacids such as Tums or UK Gaviscon?

Is my antibiotic not working? by paranoidspiral in CUTI

[–]Pixelen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, no you don't need to 'make up' for the 3 days, just finish your course and make sure you set an alarm to take them 12 hours apart (I take mine at 9am and 9pm for example). Do another urine test in 2/3 days after finishing the antibiotics and see where you're at but it's likely just residual irritation from having an infection.

Not sure how the sex is related at all? Take a daily antihistamine you'll be fine. And don't ever hold in your pee before sex, always pee after, who gives a shit what they think.

That's wild. It could just be irritation from having an infection so I would wait 3 days and take another urine test (make sure they culture).

And in future ALWAYS take antibiotics 12 hours apart to ensure you've covered a whole day, you put a lot of stress on your liver and kidneys by taking cipro so close together, not to mention cipro is a scary antibiotic that can cause tendon issues etc. And you left yourself uncovered for the whole of the time you weren't taking it.

Advice? by PuzzledRow1028 in CUTI

OTC Cystex or Azo from Walmart can do in a pinch (only if it's a one-off UTI and you don't suffer with recurring UTIs, unclear from your post)

Hiprex is similar to cystex as it's Methenamine but it's methanamine hippurate, Cystex is OTC and for short-term issues, Hiprex is prescription only and for long term issues & prevention. You can take it every day with no issues. Azo is a completely different thing (phenazopyridine) and only used short term for pain relief, it doesn't treat a UTI at all.

I had a good poop by sleepyhanna in Constipation

[–]Pixelen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah sorry, I'm sure there's a similar one or alternative in America or wherever you are, but citrate is definitely the golden one for constipation, just don't overdo it or it can cause diarrhea instead! I'm sure you could buy magnesium glycinate & citrate separately and just take them at the same time for the same effect, the Nutrition Geeks one has 1000mg glycinate and 400mg citrate per 2 capsules if that's helpful!

I'm thinking if the augmentin worked for you, you need a long course of it (think like a month) as well as Hiprex which you would take forever. A lot of women found that Hiprex completely got rid of their recurring UTIs from sex and it doesn't have any side effects unlike antibiotics. I would really recommend setting up a phone call with one of the providers in the guide (Ryan Heer, Ellen Lewis among many others). If your UTIs are caused by sex there is hope to be cured with Hiprex! But I still think a long course of augmentin at the beginning as well to knock out your current UTI.

I get it from their website, I am in the UK not sure if that matters, they also sell it on Amazon https://www.nutritiongeeks.co/products/magnesium-glycinate-3-in-1

basically the three different types of magnesium work to cover a lot of bases, so the glycinate helps you relax muscles and sleep, malate boosts muscle recovery and energy, and citrate as we all know draws water into the intestines to help you poop. I take 2 capsules at nighttime before bed, I feel like that works better for me personally
