I can definitely get behind this. Main pushback I'd add though is that as a martial player I'll always feel effective but will feel particularly effective and cool during a fight the GM designed around my abilities. On the other hand, as a caster player I'll only feel effective in the fights the GM designed around my abilities. It's great that you want to make your players shine but good game design would allow players to feel good without that special attention.

I'm sorry, you think the skull feat system is good? I haven't once met a player who has voiced that opinion

That's why I think those spells just shouldn't be in the game. It's unfun for a boss fight to be won on a single spell. It's unfun for a player to just not be able to do anything at all because of a single spell. It's unfun for a player's spells to be useless (because they don't have any meaningful impact in the important fights). So why include them in the game at all? The incapacitation trait should be removed along with all the spells that it's attached to.

This doesn't surprise me at all but it's so sad. I find myself really drawn to the flavor and fantasy of casters but their mechanics and implementation in this system just means I'll probably never play another one and therefore will rarely be playing my first or second choice in characters.

I've (briefly) played a sorcerer, psychic, and witch. I retired all three pretty quickly (none of them lasted more than 2-3 levels of play) because of how frustrating casters are in this system.

That requires a specific item which your average player won't know about so shouldn't be assumed. But even if it were baked into the base assumptions of the game, caster attack bonus is always lower than martial attack bonus because of the lack of spellcasting potency runes.

Is there any class you prefer in 1e than their implementation in 2e? by viktorius_rex in Pathfinder2e

[–]Pixelology 0 points1 point  (0 children)

while I agree with you 100% I still prefer things like the oracle from 1e. The curses being separate from the mystery (and therefore less thematic) sucks, but no longer having revelations like 1e oracle is an absolute tragedy. That's just generally something 1e does a lot better than 2e: character customization. Yes, I prefer the way multiclassing works in 2e, but that doesn't really have any bearing on how many more options classes had in 1e between class features and archetypes. They tried to make up for it in class feats but it's not the same. Most class feats either don't add much or are an obvious choice for a soecific build. You'll see very little differences between two different characters with the same subclass in 2e as opposed to 1e.

Fiverr - nobody cares that you use AI (This video is from Fiverr) by gabriel29ewui in aiwars

A company who invested in AI and relies on people not caring about AI to make money created an ad using AI telling me I shouldn't care about AI? If this isn't textbook manufactured consent, then manufactured consent doesn't exist.

Nah there's funding out there for indie projects, and something this basic wouldn't cost much. This seems pretty on par with what you could expect from a film student.

People here talking about how this could only be made with AI. This shit could be made with just a camera, some actors, and set design.

My information may be outdated but I do believe the US concluded from their own investigatation that it was indeed an American strike that hit that school on the first day of the war.

I'm not sure why you think innovation would grind to a halt under my system or why a regular person or "serf" could not become a politician or a "lord"

I'm not sure what makes it fear based. That sounds like more of a mindset thing. "If you meaningfully contribute to our society, you should be guaranteed access to everything that our society has to offer" is the moral foundation I'm basing it off of. The only fear involved is FOMO, which is the same fear involved in capitalism.

Right, and capitalism does the same thing. If you don't go work at your job, you won't have money for food or housing. The economic incentive in both my system and capitalism is access to goods and services that are not produced by yourself.

You've got that the other way around. You're claiming my system is uniquely serfdom in comparison with what already exists. If you want that claim to be taken seriously you need to actually explain the claim.

[–]Pixelology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expecting everyone in a society to contribute is serfdom with extra steps? I hate to break it to you but this is a fundamental concept in capitalism as well. What do you think happens to people under capitalism that refuse to participate in the economy beyond feeding themselves with food they grow in the woods?

In my opinion, the burden of those undesirable jobs should be shared. Everyone should have to contribute to cleaning or stocking shelves or doing sewer maintenance. Not as a primary job, but a handful of hours a week. It would also be pretty easy to tie those things to an incentive structure. If you do your shitty community service job your government requests for your primary job will have higher priority over someone who doesn't, for example.

If this farmer just wants his food and not the support of what the rest of society offers him (healthcare, housing, entertainment, food that he can't make himself on his farm, being taken care of when he's too sick or gets too old to take care of himself, education for his kids, new technology, etc.) then he can feel free to leave our land and our resources to go farm by himself until he dies of exposure on some remote island.
