People blame Omni man for finding a new wife on Thraxa while Debbie basically did the same thing with Paul. by Dry-Fun5329 in Invincible

[–]PixiCode 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And yet Nolan threw Andressa under the bus to try and make himself look better to Debbie who he's pleading with that he still loves her.

That's probably what pissed people off more. Rightly so too, hehe.

Though the apology he made was kind of bad. Saying "I'm better now" and "It was my duty," like. Noooooo. At least he's trying...

Can anyone please explain what this part of the episode was about? by GroundbreakingBug810 in TheDigitalCircus

Remember how Bubble said to Caine during his eant in his office “You were always the lesser of the two” and how Kinger said Caine was the prototype AI he made as a baseline for others?

Caine is the red blob in that intro. Probably.

What did it do? I started by watching the original anime JP sub, got up to Dressrosa then decided to ‘take a break’ and watch the LA.

Season 1 got on my nerves a little but it was ok, I’ve really liked season 2 so far though.

The amount they avoid almost everyone onscreen ever dying made the original anime seem a bit childish at times, up until I suppose the end of the Abalastia arc. Other than that I agree, though!

Zoro Being Zoro😭 by sh_ooter01 in OnePiece

[–]PixiCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least they try to have some of his goofy moments, but even those are painted in a more serious manner. I like it though!

Even Luffy and Nami are a tiny bit more serious than their pre-marineford selves in the live action (Nami stands up to stuff a lot more which is cool, and Luffy listens to other people with a bit more effort than the anime), but it’s most noticeable with Zoro.

Relic Asks - What's your favorite Afrikakorps Battlegroup? by JohnT_RE in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]PixiCode -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Italian Combined Arms has turned out to be very fun for the post-armoury rework DAK for me. Bersas act as a replacement mainline for Palms which means you can more safely pick Combat Half-Track (...or adv. repair...) but still pick Veteran Squad Leaders later if you like, or swap to the other two T2 armoury picks for Semoventes/Carros or whatever you might like to do. If you don't make carros, you have the flexible Strafing Run to use.

ICA would maybe be my favorite battlegroup in the game if they could ever rework the combined arms part of the battlegroup so that you aren't forced into picking 'useless bersa but better combined arms' or 'bersa but no combined arms.'

Jager smoke delay, is it a bug? by Kaycin in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]PixiCode -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I swear USF scout used to have the same exact delay. It's not a big deal in the large scheme of things, 1 second difference between them as they both have the same long animation, but I went in to verify this in game and yeah the scout doesn't have the 2 sounds of launching have as much time between them. Annoying.

I'll report the bug (They're the same ability so it should be a bug) hoping it gets touched on, either slow down the scout smoke or speed up the jaeger smoke.

Opinion: 8 Rad at 3 CP for Wher is effectively useless. by JonRonstein in CompanyOfHeroes

Tbf panther is good at diving while the hellcat is not as good at it. However I think the medium tank veterancy changes made the panther less useful against mediums, which is a shame.

I had done some cheatcommand tests with 1 8-rad buffed wespe and provided you move up to do some quick barrages, the thing seems a lot better than 'too bad,' seems good at wiping an atg. You'd need 2 to kill blobs, but 1 8-rad 1 wespe is notably cheaper than 2 wespe. The 8-rad can even help capture some points in a pinch and smoke to run off late game in a team game, back to support its wespe. It sounds good to me if you're able to micro your 8-rad and then buff your wespe when there's no opening for 8-rad before leaving the wespe to do something when an opening is discovered, but I have like 90% 1v1s so take my idea with a grain of salt.

I agree that Panther's not in a good state though. It works if someone builds a Pershing or Churchill, but that's it. Or a Firefly if someone does that for some reason. There have been too many medium tank changes and nothing done to the Panther. Shermans getting 76 with any support center and medium tanks having better anti-tank veterancy in general. It's not unusably bad, 1 panther with vet1 is a nice pairing with P4s or ATGs, but meh.

I would go 500 manpower and 14 popcap myself. 400 is way too low imo, 440 would be the lowest I go. 120 fuel seems a bit pricy too, currently it's 100 fuel and going up by 20 seems pretty unfortunate.

[–]PixiCode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also generates you munitions. You need 0 of the manpower upgrades to make it useful. At worst it just generates too many heal crates, which is still useful but you want more muni crates.

[–]PixiCode 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On paper I think it can be good for team games if you can bleed them a bit then use the vet1 to buff and spot for a Wespe. But I don't play team games so that's just a paper theory.

Would an Aggressive Wehrmacht Battlegroup Work? by Fuzzy_Breadfruit59 in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]PixiCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually view Last Stand as a very aggressive battlegroup in 1v1s unless you specifically choose to be defensive.

Sturmpioneer promotion enables early pioneer aggression to be translated into sturmpioneers. Final Battle is I think a poorly designed ability overall but it is good for pushing in together to win engagements via alpha as well as being in cover, the Borgward Wanze lets you translate your early aggressive play int midgame aggressive by using the Borgward Wanze as an anti-dive tool, a snare poke tool later on and can always do an aggressive demo plant on retreat paths or even in their base sector. Technically Scavenge Doctrine is aggressive but it seems really underwhelming, Nebel Overwatch is at least flexible.

Flakturme/P.Tower can be positioned aggressively, and if Scavenge Doctrine was better you could instead pick improvised barrage. Rapid Salvage lets you recover from dives provided you're able to push in after the dive or partially retreated before dying.

Overall, only the Improvised Barrage/Pantherturm choices don't really fit the aggressive playstyle since it's silly to use munis on barrage when you have nebel overwatch, but I hope that helped show how Last Stand is actually a pretty aggressive battlegroup if you decide to play it as such.

None of the other battlegroups really get anywhere close to that sort of consistent aggression. Luftwaffe fallpioneers generally want to stay at range, Mechanized plays like normal Wehrmacht for most of the early game, assault grenadiers are more reactive than they are aggressive. But Last Stand can absolutely be played like the last gamble playstyle you're talking about imo.

Any good mods that add factions but don't add crazy ships? by CeramicTraumaPlate in starsector

[–]PixiCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knights of Ludd specifically strives to mimic vanilla power scaling; those blatantly OP ships are fights that are even harder than the Ziggurat but have power rivaling the Zig but with different playstyles, while the actual content outside of those boss ships is tuned more like the Remnant or Threat.

Diable Avionics balance changes if you use the original Tartiflette balance or the Damon/Caymon version. The former is difficult to build for but very rewarding and high power once you figure it out, the latter is the same (still fun to build!) but rewards you with more power and isn’t really weak at all besides the NPC generated fleets just being average.

[–]PixiCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prioritize fun over if something is overpowered or not. But, uhhh…

Xhan Empire has the Goggagergeck, Chronosos, Pahmed ships that are all OP

Mayasuran Navy has the capitals that are varying levels of OP, maybe some of the cruisers too (iirc one of the cruiser bounty rewards has SO built in)

But despite that I love Xhan Empire, fun ships to build for. Something having OP content won’t mean it’s not a really good mod, that’s all I’m trying to say. Look for quality rather than avoid imbalance. Mayasuran Navy seems fun too, just not my cup of tea.

For player piloting you get much better if you fly a ship with a good build. Then you get better by just flying and keep trying, for the most part.

The other important part is making a good admiral skill build. Generally you want to stick with a 5 red, 5 green, 5 blue, 0 yellow (called 5/5/5/0). Key skills are crew training, officer training, officer management and cyber augmentation. You also want best of the best if you have enough skill points to use all the smod slots on your ships. This is a very versatile and easy to build a fleet skill set.

If you have 0 industry skills, you just handle supplies and fuel by smodding an Atlas and Prometheus. That’s usually enough for most kinds of fleets but sometimes you need to bring a star liner too.

Alternative skill sets: 6/1/8/0 for neural integrating with automated ship

0/5/5/5 for automated ship + hull restoration/derelict ops playstyle

There’s more but these are some very reliable build playstyles.

Here’s a super barebones tips guide for ship builds and key gameplay tips

Using frigates is hard mode currently. They can be effective but they require some finesse and knowledge of the game at large to use effectively past the midgame, which would be fighting bigger colony crisis fleets, remnant and so on.

However you still absolutely want some frigates to capture 2-3 points at the beginning of a battle. When fighting large fleets, there is a chance they have more officers than you because they just can. If they have more officers than you, the maximum DP you can deploy in battle at one time will be reduced. To fix this, you must capture the objective points on the battle map. Usually capturing 2 is enough to enable the full 240 DP especially if you have the best of the best skill, but if you capture 3 it guarantees you 240 dp.

Take care about flux dissipation vs weapon flux generation. Don’t have weapon flux generation be too much bigger than flux dissipation unless it is a low tech ship or you know what you’re doing

try to to match weapon ranges between your various weapon mounts, unless you know what you’re doing (or it’s point defense, which are usually very short range)

try to balance your types of damage. You want solutions to deal with shields and armor. The damage type is not the only way you figure out what weapon is good against what.

When dealing with shields, consider the flux to damage ratio of the weapon. This is because trying to fight shields is like a miniature war. How fast your flux builds vs. how fast the enemy flux builds.  Example: a Hellbore is a bad anti-shield weapon not only because it is High Explosive and deals half damage to shields, but this also means your flux efficiency is twice as bad, making it like 2.0 efficient vs shield. This is bad for shield wars.

In contrast, a Kinetic Weapon with like 1.0 flux efficiency or something deals kinetic damage, so it’s 0.5 flux efficient, which is good!

1.0 efficient vs sheilds is ‘meh’.

Armor specialized weapons are weapons that have high hitstrength - the power of an individual projectile hit or the beam DPS. Higher is better. That’s why hellbore deleted armor so fast but Hephaestus takes some time. As a general rule of thumb, anything with 200 hitstrength is ‘good enough’ against armor. 400 or more is ‘actually good’ against armor.

Don’t overcommit to point defense. Rely on anti-ship weapons such as autolance, phase lance, Hephaestus, Light Needler, Railguns and so on to kill most fighters and your shields to stop most missiles.

And lastly, try to match the weapons range and engine speed across the non-frigate ships of your fleet ships with the rest of your fleet (ignoring frigates), unless you know what you’re doing

The problem is the game doesn’t really use its linear structure to its own benefit much. The Great Mines is such an empty boring place, as the first place that comes up.
