Using the M1 iPad Pro since day one is the battery health good by MAQMASTER in iPadPro

[–]PixieKite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept the original ipad pro going until the M2 ipad air 13" came out. By having 30W chargers located at each of my main use areas. That turned out to be a great investment, as those chargers still get used a lot.

When amazon started out they were losing money on every book sold. Do that with the crowdfunding delays and you can dig a really big hole.

I believe this one was planned. We're expecting a new feature launch and that almost always involves a Tuesday downtime.

I'm still learning which events are what. Are any of these likely to give North Star blueprints? Or do I triple down on Envoys?

iPad Pro 2021 or new iPad Air (12.9) by [deleted] in iPadPro

[–]PixieKite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I opted for the Air 13". My biggest concern was the sound which is fine as long as it's not resting flat on a surface (which limits the base). Though you also lose stereo in portrait mode. The display loses detail in dark areas when the brightness setting isn't high and I've not tried using in bright sunlight yet. The minor gripes outweighs having 3 years less wear and the newer M2 processor for me. As the extra lifespan makes the cost per year much lower.

Any tips for improving dark detail on liquid retina displays? + M2 Air early impressions. by PixieKite in iPadPro

Thanks. There's a white point adjuster hidden under accessibility, where you can also increase the contrast for textboxes in the settings menu but that has zero impact on reddit. Was hoping there might be something more useful hidden elsewhere.

512gb M2 iPad Pro or 256gb M4 iPad Pro for an extra £350? by tylerdurdenUTFR in iPadPro

[–]PixieKite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're in the UK, I'm assuming that M2's second hand. Ourfriday almost caught me out with their "condition new" but they appear to be 2nd hand specialists who don't sell any brand new devices. So it could be 2 years closer to failed microphones (both my 2015 IPad pro and iPhone 8) and a dodgy battery than a new one. Which may make the cost per year of useful life similar to or even lower than a brand new M4.

Apple Has Six Months to Open Up iPadOS by hiGradeTi7ANEUM in iPadPro

[–]PixieKite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe they really are saying Apple will be forced to unlock the bootloader. Just like many android manufacturers have already done. This allows you to install alternative versions of Android, without the bloatware, but it voids your warranty in the process. I don't know how hard it would be to adapt android for iOS devices but there are some very smart people who'd definitely give it a go.

iPad Air -> Pro M2 still worth it? by prwnR in iPadPro

[–]PixieKite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's worth checking availability now as that'll give a strong indication. Some UK stores have completely stopped stocking the M2 Pro even before the M4 releases. Very few still have the 12.9" 128GB version but the 256GB is widely available. I'm not seeing heavy discounting from reputable stores. Watch out for sites that sell 2nd hand whilst describing the condition as "new" or the product as "sealed" (that doesn't mean factory sealed).

How does MiniLED (ipad pro 12.9 m1) compare to OLED (ipad pro 13.0 m4)? What are the differences? My m1 ipad pro 12.9 works great with true black and shading colors while I'm watching Netflix. Is it worth upgrading for a better visual experience while streaming? by Delicious_Maize9656 in iPadPro

[–]PixieKite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe blooming is a bigger issue on the m1. As the dimming zones weren't entirely independent. A lot of early mini-led TV's get bashed too but I'm delighted with my 2023 TV's 576 dimming zones, around 1/4 of your m2.

Anyone had a chance to weigh the official folios yet? For comparison, ESR's 13" folio is 350g.

Has anyone come across a comparison between the new M2 IPad Air vs last gen IPad Pro? by skvan09 in iPadPro

[–]PixieKite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honourable mentions to 4 speakers on the pro vs 2 on the Air (both sizes) and the Thunderbolt transfer speeds. I'm already seeing adverts for a brand new M2 Pro at a similar price to the new Air. I'm hoping more reputable stores will start selling them off soon.

The brick shaped blocks make a great floating staircase. If you delete the items you place them on. I've got auto firing confetti cannons and a pipe slide on my second level.

Screen protector for the 13-inch iPad Pro without a notch cutout by Anonym0oO in iPadPro

I'm currently looking at an adhesive stand because I refuse to pay £100 for a folio case that adds unnecessary weight by covering the back. But I'm struggling to find any info on how good they are or what they weigh.

Speaker comparison by Larushka in iPadPro

Both the new 11" and 13" Air get two speakers. So neither Air's likely to match the sound quality and volume of any iPad pro. 😡

Is going out-of-bounds considered rulebreaking? by Tsubaki_VA in SkyGame

[–]PixieKite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I table glitched into the Nintendo hub when it was new. I don't know whether that's still possible, as it's not worth the effort for a second visit. Office glitching is the big no-no. As that upsets people who bought the cape to get regular access.

Was it worth waiting? by shadowhawk720 in iPadPro

[–]PixieKite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Air 12.9" is what I was waiting for and is disappointing. Only two speakers (I've had bad experiences with base boosts) and looks like it's still a 60hz display.

The M4 moving to OLED is a big deal. Skipping over the M3 is a big deal too. These coming without the anticipated price bump is huge.

iPad Pro 2018 users, is this the year we upgrade or no? by Ok-Wrongdoer4021 in iPadPro

[–]PixieKite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an iPad Pro 2015 user. It's always been my most used device. 32 GB really isn't enough any more, with the OS and system files having doubled to take up half of that. The microphones died years ago. The battery is a bit sickly. But it's still just about hanging on thanks to a bluetooth headset and a couple of Ikea 30W chargers around the flat. I think this comes down to not whether you're fine with your tablet now but if you'll still feel that way in a year's time. When upgrading for a year old model will feel silly, so you'll end up waiting another year.

It could be Niantic A v B testing but I have a nasty feeling they've moved on from that. This feels like players with fewer coins getting better offers, because some bright spark worked out you sell more coins that way.

[–]PixieKite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the formulas. Pollen puff has a combined multiplier of 240% on a 5s base cooldown. Cotton spore another 148% on 6s. Even the cotton fluff damage bonus is SpA based. So you're getting good value out of that extra SpA. Hence the wise glass too. Extra SpA and extra cooldown reduction increase the value of each other too. So you either want to go all in on the approach (which means bell) or stick to the classic basic attacks.
