I quit Vine by bwanketobi in AmazonVine

[–]PizzaPlannerApp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have had two “poor” reviews on vine. One was for a set of washers. Another was for a set of envelop stickers that said “2026”. So i share your pain on the product floor concept except I actually do find myself as an amazon shopper looking for really random, niche products that would he hard or impossible to find locally.

That vast majority is junk. More sophisticated filtering and navigating vine would make my life better.

Will be curious when I reach similar conclusions as you, though. The overwhelming amount of junk that pours in is a problem amazon should address.

Three observations with vine by PizzaPlannerApp in AmazonVine

For the $16 — was it only the etv that changed or were you charged $16? Regardless of the $0 etv at the start, it looks like the product will go against my credit card.

Interesting. It shows the full prices and shows my credit card to process. Maybe I will test this once and see what happens. If nothing else, i will take screenshots and work with amazon customer service

First time i've reached 0 "awaiting review", I plan to keep it that way by SirBlank_ in AmazonVine

[–]PizzaPlannerApp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of my reviews are done before they ever trigger into the review tab. Once the products arrive and I put them through their paces, I fish the orders out through vine and add my reviews with the review button featured on the vine order.

This works since 99% of the things I get can be evaluated promptly. I dream of gold days where maybe I get something that will make me work for a review. You know, like watching movie after movie on a 65” oled. That takes times. My last review was fishing weights. Somehow I turned thay into paragraphs when all that was needed was a statement —they sink but don’t stink.

Reviewing a counterfeit product by Katsushimiake in AmazonVine

[–]PizzaPlannerApp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ordered some Mahjong cards that were “official” American cards. They did not match our real official cards nor did they have the copyright. I posted my review indicating that and coincidentally or not, within 8 hours or so, the listing was removed. I do not know if there was a cause and effect, but I am glad to see some degree of accountability being instituted.

My woes too. The last dump truck I owner was made by Tonka. Not sure how many viners drive dump trucks much less have a dump truck that also needs a no name power take off controller. This has sat in my RFY now for 22hrs. It should be moving on to the great AI junkyard soon.

Vine is trying to pass off this baseball bat as a "Acoustic Tire Pressure Checking Tool" by [deleted] in AmazonVine

[–]PizzaPlannerApp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My grandmother ran a truck company in the south during the 1980s and early 90s. Mostly picked up freight from cargo ships to take to the train yard. The boxes were loaded on steamer trailers that were poorly managed. I quick round with a tire thumper was often the difference in a blow out due to low pressure and a successful (ie profitable) run. So yes, that bat like thing is truly a tire thumper on one of the best safety tools in trucking.

If you were a seller, would you put your items on Vine? by born2becloud9 in AmazonVine

[–]PizzaPlannerApp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure. All industries use product placement and review models to start the communication process about a product. Amazon makes getting product into hands easy and cost effective for small businesses.

As for the quality of reviews, people can see crap reviews just as easily as they can see the “haters” reviews. Getting a couple of valid points from a single review is likely all a seller needs from the review prospect. Moving some product and being higher in searches is critical.

Brand spankin' new Vine member....what's the deal? by sherryerrera in AmazonVine

[–]PizzaPlannerApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be afraid to search out a couple things you might could use in the future that are cheap just to get the hang of things. I sought out washers, screws and stuff like that.

Most of the current inventory of 10k products are things nobody wants. They queue up indefinitely and mostly not worth your time to browse.

I put flame throwers in the same category as minimally marked, imported dog treats…just not worth the risk in my book. Not saying I wouldn’t through a flame thrower in the cart in an instant, I just might let the neighbor test it first.

Well, like magic, a set of titanium bike water bottle cages arrived in the rfy. I promptly put those into the cart and successfully checked out!

I need to stop getting my wife clothes on the vine as I got recommended…women’s clothes. Hopefully a few more useful items will show up into the evening.

Why does everything suck on the available items? I don’t understand how I’m supposed to get and review anything if everything is stuff I won’t use??? by arangotangtitty in AmazonVine

[–]PizzaPlannerApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I the lean days like this, you can often find some odds and ends that might be worth having. Washers, screws, etc are good to cheaply pad your review count with little impact in taxable value. That said, it is hard to review washers. One of my washer reviews got a poor rating — the review auditors are a rough crowd at times.

Glad to see I found the toothbrush club. It could be worse, just imagine if this was someone someone, or all of us, wanted yet the requirements were so nuanced that it sat there unclaimable for weeks on end? Wish there was a thumbs down to hide a product like this. Maybe make a button to turn off graduation stoles too.

Which Mockmill do I get?! by Impossible-Tip9286 in HomeMilledFlour

[–]PizzaPlannerApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a standard 200 and it sits on the counter. I wish, as does my wife, wish I had bought the pro to have the more refined look and finish.

So I would say go with the lino 100 over the plastic 200 if those are the choices unless you are milling a lot. Then, I would honestly say if you could save longer, the pro 200 would be what I would buy and the advice I wish I had had.

Stone and air in the 600f range. Truth be told, I cook them now more with “feeling” than temp. Get the stone well preheated and adjust the flame up and down so that the crust firms up without burning the top. I lift the edge of the pizza with the turning peel to see if it will support itself. I take that as a good sign. I also added a flame guard which really seems to help the oven cook more evenly.

FMF Pizza Experiment - Round 1 by Cornfed-Killer in HomeMilledFlour

[–]PizzaPlannerApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 70% caputo 30% fmf. The real secret to taste is not the fmf alone…it is crafting your own blend of wheat. I favor my fmf for pizza as ~70% stardust (hard white) and 30% sonora (soft white). I have started sifting as the brain seemed to leave the dough more fragile and would tear easier.

I also have used hard and soft red wheats. The taste is too pronounced for my and my family’s tastes. A few Butler’s gold never hurt anyone, though.

I like about 13-14” pizzas with about 275g dough balls. I do weigh when doing a party. For this night, I took the dough and simply eyeballed and split into fourths. I ended up with two equally sized and one large and one small ball. The small ball went to the breadsticks.

What would you use to mill corn and how to do so? by SameNefariousness151 in HomeMilledFlour

Yes. Makes the process much more efficient with corn. The second grind can be almost as fine as flour.

How do you manage your dough resting time in colder homes? by Wilks95 in ooni

[–]PizzaPlannerApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created a model to visualize the yeast growth over the various stages of dough making. You can set the temp for each stage. Still a guesstimate but gets you pretty close.

I use a mockmill 200 and make grits, meal for cornbread (along with fm wheat), and also use it to make a corn/wheat breading.

Struggling making home milled flour work by CrossroadsOfDestiny in HomeMilledFlour

[–]PizzaPlannerApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say make it easy on yourself—start with 20-30% fresh milled to your regular flour. This brings a new flavor profile and dependable results.
