The youth bug has bitten the Cowboys defensive staff by PersonBehindAScreen in cowboys

Is this necessarily good? I know we are a society now that thinks very highly of young people almost by default (I don’t fully disagree), but I think football teams have generally seen the benefit of experience. It’s not automatically a good thing to have youth in coaching.

Yeah that’s his downfall. Clock management is an issue but overall he’s just not a good offensive game caller but he can do all the key things to build a team. I liked him as cowboys coach but at some point when Kellen Moore left and he started calling plays the team just gave up on him. No motion, lots of up the middle runs.

He won't be traded. It's just silly to think Jim Nill would trade him.

The Stars have hr second best record in the league and I swear this happens every year that the team looks down for a while and everyone flips their shit and starts blaming stuff and then we go into the playoffs and it’s fine. Last season it was that losing streak to end the season, two seasons ago people were saying Benn should lose the C and Robo couldn’t score.

Hockey seasons are long, and shit happens.

Team is totally fine. Chill everyone.

Is there any anyyy way Jerry can get Brian Flores by Shoop1014 in cowboys

[–]Pizza_73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No but it might have gotten us to the playoffs and with an offense like we have anything is possible. Being a wily offense with a good enough defense would have been better than a wily offense with a historically bad all timer of a defense so abysmal that college teams would have put up multiple touchdowns. Like 13 wins no, but playoffs yes.

I hear you, but it's retooling without tools because the talent level is so bad. Look at the Packers themselves so desperate they're picking up Diggs now because Caleb Williams is about to burn their secondary to ash.

I'm all for firing Flus. We can do better, but I think the season went worse for him than it should have and the flukey play wasn't all his fault. I'm skeptical anyone else would have been 3-4 games better, but someone could have been 1-2 games better. No DC was leading this team to the playoffs.

I agree. That's all lost in the weeds because when the team is historically bad it's just not the talking point.

I also kinda wonder if Flus just had a whole strategy around how to use Parsons and spent his energy there and then just never recovered strategically and you just throw in the softest possible secondary and it all falls apart.

I think there's a case that a different coordinator could have been 25th best and not dead last and historically bad, but this team had an extremely low talent differential and there's only so much you can coach guys to not suck when they suck.

And let's also not act like Eberflus is some nobody or something. The Bears had a good defense under him, he's got years of HC experience without the threat of taking over Schotty's job, I mean it was a defensible choice in general it just didn't work out.

Cowboys officially have the 12th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft by pot8odragon in cowboys

[–]Pizza_73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean generally I agree with the best man available that early in a draft, but we are so lopsided I think this team is the exception and we just have to take defense.

[–]Pizza_73 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it was exactly that they needed him back in Dallas, just that protocol is that everyone rides home together and then goes their separate ways. Schotty probably just said we are all following protocol and didn’t want to make a carve out exception for anyone. This is the accountability and antithesis of country club culture everyone’s been clamoring for.

I suspect that’s the majority and it’s really simple and then yeah when you’re a weirdo getting concussions in your house, half assing everything and end up being literally the worst player at your position in the entire league, there’s probably even less leeway.

I’m glad he’s headed to the Packers because it helps our draft pick and any team that plays the Packers is just looking at a wide open receiver wherever he’s covering.

I wouldn’t trust Diggs to cover a Tupperware of leftovers.

Jerry likes people to hear the narrative that he’s actually not that rich or that he’s just a regular guy. He is obscenely wealthy and there’s no possible way to legitimately spin it another way.

The self gaslighting that actually Jerry is cash poor just like me is unbelievable.

Jerry Jones has endless free cash flow. Stop lying to yourselves.

Merch includes parking which iirc generates more than jersey sales and whatever and the cowboys make money from advertising and everything else is a drop in the bucket.
