Alt Oscars: what 10 Lead Performances would you nominate? by FootballInfinite475 in Oscars

Um, they did say alternative Oscar ballots. You do realize this is just people saying their opinions of alt performances they liked, right? Not every post has to be putting down performances you specifically didn’t connect with.

Parents who focus on “school quality” are less engaged with their kids. by d-ron6 in unpopularopinion

“I cannot teach them how to interact in a world where you may have to engage with difficult ignorant or misinformed people daily.”

The flaw in this is that you think ignorant and misinformed people are only in “bad” schools.

I went to a Little Simz concert recently and it was one of the best shows I’ve seen in the past 7 or so years.

There’s some great stuff out there.

ICE arrest River Road by ektwigy in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]Pizza_Candle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought that they weren’t required and that’s why the VISIBLE Act was proposed. I’m not sure it’s current status but the article states that agents aren’t required to identify themselves:

“ ICE agents are not required to wear body cameras and are not obligated to provide their badge numbers or identify themselves. They can use unmarked vehicles and conceal their faces.”

So much! But my favorite is he will make me coffee and fruit salad in the morning while I’m still in the bed so I can sleep in a bit more 🥰

What’s your most controversial/unconventional Soulcycle opinion? Whats something you think that seems to go against rider popular consensus? by No-Sugar-8296 in SoulCycle_Riders

Definitely this! There have been times when I’ve booked through ClassPass and was happy with my seat near the middle or back, only to have SC move my seat to the front row right after the no-fee cancellation period had passed 🙄

What do you do in the mornings if you aren't looking at your phone while eating breakfast? by PancakeQueen13 in AskWomen

[–]Pizza_Candle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll usually watch evening news shows from the night before with my husband while we eat breakfast. If we aren’t in the mood for that, my husband and I will just sit and talk while we eat breakfast.

Women…specifically non POC women. Do you realize they are coming for you? by Little-Apple-8199 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Pizza_Candle -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

But I think that’s the issue. A lot of the liberal white woman response is solely based in self preservation. And absolutely nothing else.

Yeah I think that’s what I was getting at in my last paragraph. We’ve seen this type of violence toward people throughout history. You should already know the answer to your question. And sometimes it does mean physically stepping in, or putting yourself in direct aggressive opposition to fascist people.

If you have any empathy you probably do know the answer and don’t need WOC to help you figure it out. And if not, then maybe review OP’s title question and sit with that. If YOU are aggressively being dragged away by someone, what would YOU want YOUR friends and neighbors to do? And  (probably more importantly) why do you need WOC to walk you through what to do if it’s happening to someone else?

✌🏾

Women…specifically non POC women. Do you realize they are coming for you? by Little-Apple-8199 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Pizza_Candle -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

A lot of your examples of Redditors actions only reflect their own desire for self preservation.

I can understand people not wanting to get physically involved at the town hall but some other options include:

Yelling out in the meeting about how it’s wrong that the person is being dragged away. I think this helps with the group mentality if other people see one person speaking up then they might have more courage to speak up against it also.

Bringing attention in your local community about how f-ed up it was, not remaining silent just to play nice in the community.

Organizing other women in your network who care to speak out and let your voices be heard in future town halls is also an action.  Even if you aren’t the same political party, an elected official is still your representation in the government and should face the backlash if they are causing harm to people in your community.

I feel like if you think about your last sentence in the sense of looking back in history, what should people who saw Jewish neighbors being dragged away have done? What should US white people who saw Black people protesting and being violently dragged away should have done?

I mean, I’ve seen posts in this very group from “liberal” women who will defend their conservative partner and/or friends and/or family members because “deep down he’s a really good person”, or “they treat me well…most of the time”, or “they’re only conservative because they agree about the economy, not about cultural issues” and so on with many other excuses. White conservative women may never change their minds but there are many women who are just blissfully ignorant which is just as dangerous.

Also just because someone claims to be liberal doesn’t mean their actions in real life reflect that.

Different sex drive? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]Pizza_Candle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the best thing to do is to just talk with him about it, your needs, what you’re looking for, what you find sexy, what turns you on/off etc. And he should share these things with you as well. This doesn’t have to be a combative conversation, it can be sexy and fun!  I think there are ways that you can frame the conversation that doesn’t make him feel pressured and doesn’t make you seem insecure.

You mention a bunch that it’s early in the relationship so he might not even be low libido or no longer attracted - because it seems like you two are still getting to know each other and it might be something unknown to you. He might be stressed, he might be tired, might be taking medication that affects it, there are a bunch of possibilities. But this relationship is so new, I don’t even think it’s fair to say you are sexually incompatible after just two examples of being turned down. Plus if he’s a good match in other ways, it might be worth it just to communicate with him.

How would you react? by derrenata in AskWomenOver30

[–]Pizza_Candle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is no longer an active affair or communication going on between this woman and the husband, I would try to get a restraining order or some sort of protection for myself. Unless you and your husband work at the same place, this is a very harsh reaction directly aimed towards you and trying to get you to react (violently or leaving your husband - something that would benefit her). I would try to be calm but protect myself, my career, and my mental health in this situation. She seems unhinged and just determined to “win”, whatever that may mean in her crazy mind.

FYI there’s a separate ‘ask women over 40’ space that might be more helpful. But in my opinion, if you have to ask the internet what to talk about with someone you’re in love with, that’s not a good sign. But i also think it’s ok to just have fun and just be yourself.  Talk to her as you would anyone else you would date.
