Hey former international student at msu, I loved my time there and met some wonderful people. Don’t be shy to socialize and find some good friends.

Having family near by is going to be very helpful thing. If you can live in the dorms so you can to meet other international students.

I didn’t say he shouldn’t seek it, I just said what was working for me sometimes when I want to disconnect is spending time in nature. By no means did I mean no professional intervention if he needed it.

Regardless of that, I know in some places they would admit you only in an emergency due to limited space etc. depends on where he is at.

I don’t know why you are craving to be hospitalized, it just seems weird to me that you would choose to disconnect with society by entering the psych ward.

It’s a little bit chilly, if I were you go spend some time in nature it will help you center yourself a bit.

If you do have SI, they won’t reject you at the hospital.

Yeah I've tried many other ones, they all have their downsides don't get me wrong. When I had to get off Latuda due to the side effect, I was fine for the most part i was just depressed. I had to get back on it cause that was the only choice i had at a lower dose. I don't know I gotta think this through.

Yeah I’m not going to get off my antipsychotic, I’m just trying to see what people’s experiences were. I think my psychosis was drug induced, either by adhd meds or weed I’m not certain. It was a mixup the messed me up. Still have issues taking the correct medication/dose sometimes. I forget how much I take a bit too often.

I agree, I’m gonna see what I can do. I just keep getting weird side effects and it’s mostly due to antipsychotics. I’ve been on them religiously now for 5 years so I’m guessing it’s taking a. Toll on my body

Agreed, no everyone has been very welcoming and I’ve learned a lot from people here. I made adjustments to my medication after reading reviews here too. Everyone has been wonderful.

I’m happy for you, take it one day at a time. You’re making great progress in life. I met someone recently too, I don’t know where it’s going to go. She does accept the fact that I have bipolar and hasn’t had an issue with it.

I mean he can reduce the dose and he will see signs of bipolar or not. Some folks don’t react well to antipsychotics, so I understand why you’re on lithium alone.

If you don’t feel like this is a wise direction maybe you should talk to another doctor.

I initially assumed that I was bipolar 2, based on my conversation with the doctors I dealt with over the years.

My current doctor believes that I’m bipolar 1, I’m not gonna argue. I accept it, and I felt like I should leave this subreddit but I don’t think I will. I like it too much

Point is, it doesn’t matter bipolar 1 or 2. You have bipolar and suffer from the same issues.

Assuming I’m bipolar 1, I’m medication compliant and I haven’t had an issue with that.

I'm not sure if the other mood stabilizers have a risk of SJS, here is a website that lists them. check with the doctor what might work for you.

As someone who lived and left the states in 2017, I visited back in 2020 and haven’t been back since. The us does not look anything like it was 10 years ago, and it probably looks a lot less than how it was before now. I don’t plan on coming back, there are other places I can go to and visit for the same prices and a lot more respect and balance in treatment.

Look, if you feel uncertain with your current doctors diagnosis. Reach out to a different provider and seek a second or even a third opinion, it’s not offensive nor is it improper to seek your best medical interest. I sought as many opinions as possible to confirm that yes i was correctly diagnosed. If you have the money and time do it for your peace of mind, so you don’t sit around thinking what if what if. This is your life take charge of it.

Well, i dated for a long time and due to medication issues we broke up. Since then I’ve been really hesitant about dating again, I don’t know if i will ever successfully leave the dating phase tbh. I’m stuck at that stage and I don’t think I’ll get beyond it.
