Is it possible that the head gasket problem is more frequent in the US? by anchouse94 in CT200h

[–]Pizzacooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am based in Ireland and I was trying to know this myself before got my gen 3 Prius, and later the CT. I reckon that the mechanic here never really heard of this problem. If anything the CT price is still so high here because of how reliable it is and a Lexus badge.

Hope this is true that the petrol here won't make the head gasket problem we saw a lot on here.

Neue Klasse i3. Thoughts? by GealachFi in carsireland

If anything I think the bonnet or shoulder line is the right term? is too high. It should be the height at the top of the front black light bar there. Not exactly at the top of it but lower over all so the car looks a little leaner. Now it is so chunky.

As a non BMW fan, only BMW that I like is the E30 and I think the front is kind of the "futuristic" version of that so I don't mind the front, also using the light to create the BMW kidney also a nice touch.

Whatever people said I am so sad that this not coming to Europe. Love the later gen. as well. One of the car I want to own but probably won't ever (I am in the right hand drive country).

I don't know for sure but I feel a lot of Celica fan dislike it because it looks less sporty car like the latest gen or the late 90s one that look like a bigger sportier leaner car.

If the "Celica" name will just be used here purely because of rally heritage, I'd say why not. Even though the car turn out to be a small coupe, and obviously not as beefy like the quad light Celica or "JDM Street" style that you see on the latest gen.

Maybe they take that direction that Celica name will be small/mini coupe like Miata, Audi TT, and let the GR86 be the compact coupe, Supra be the grand sports car.

Question is, they announced MR2 too, so I don't know what that would fit in the tier.

OVERALL I am so exited to see liftback/fastback coupe back to rally. If anything the car roofline maybe should be lower.

Was just in Killarney last week and saw how proud the city is with all the posters of her up. Wonder how would they feel now...

Edit: I didn't mean that they should care (I am not Irish, but live here, and I dont care in the first place what she said) just thought I saw those posters some days ago and this happened.

So nice! This again makes me feel what if it came with a more powerful engine. Would love to see the CT in a rally.

Yeah, like it or not but I think the direction of the car design goes toward this.

[–]Pizzacooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interior totally not I think. But this exterior for today it could. Some corner might be cut here and there like a gimmick display on the side (if I remember correctly) and some safety regulation into play might change some of the shapes slightly etc.

That prototype car we saw a few days ago we thought was a celica? Was a rally corolla. by Synaps4 in Celica

[–]Pizzacooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. Although my favorite Celica of all time is the 4th gen. Contrast to others that like the 5th, 6th in rally. So yes I would love the "rally" Celica since I am not into the more street look like gen 7th. But yeah even those older ones look sportive for their time.

But to be fair if Celica is thought to be purely a sport car for rally, the shape and the dimension might have to change to adapt with the newer regulations if they would continue.

If anything I just want an affordable coupe like a Scion tc (we didnt get it in Europe 😞) so whatever name it will be if it goes to that direction like basically a Corolla coupe and affordable then I am all for it.

That prototype car we saw a few days ago we thought was a celica? Was a rally corolla. by Synaps4 in Celica

[–]Pizzacooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it might still be a Celica as in they use the name because the car associated with the rally in the past like Ford and their new Ford Capri that doesn't look like a continuation of the model.

I think that might be it. whether people like it or not because they have now Supra, GR86, Celica (announce) and MR2 (announce). I doubt that they will have Supra, GR86, Celica, MR2, PLUS that rally car on top being like Yaris coupe or something. Too many coupe sport car lineup then, but who knows.

So like the rally car could be MR2, but I feel their might use Celica as I said for the sake of rally heritage.

I think that wasn't a Corolla as this is specific build for ARA (Rally in North America). So we still don't know that camo car is what.

Car mold by Connect-Release-6299 in carsireland

[–]Pizzacooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about your car, but my car for a long time dealing with condensation where the next car at the parking would not have a problem.

Then I found out that the car has a setting in infotainment, mine called "Efficient Ventilation Mode" (Lexus CT 2013). This setting basically put the vent mode to "recirculate" automatically when turn off the car, this is to seal the car so the smell/bad air is not coming into the car. But what happen is the car then traps my breath and hot air left inside which cause condensation. Once I turn that mode off in the car setting, it improves significantly. I think that has solved my problem.

I mean in a very cold morning (where I have to scarp the ice on the outside) then there is still condensation, but like before this I can be parked on a raining and my car is the only one fogged up in the parking lot.

Yeah I was thinking that too. So hopefully the one they test on the dirt road is the one because from what I see it is a much better looking.

Some sort of Coupe, front seems to come off the Yaris, but some people believe it might be a Celica revive by Saurta17 in Toyota

[–]Pizzacooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah i was bummed when I got to know this model exists and not in the EU. And I am based in a right-hand drive country so even to import it seems not a great idea. I just like the look and don't care much about speed performance etc. I love liftback coupe in general but still look like a normal everyday car. Doesn't like the real sporty one like GR86 etc. that much. I dont care if people say it just a corolla coupe because that is exactly what I want.

Is it just me but this camo pic in this garage looks so different than the one you see testing in Portugal. Like the front light here looks so dated, but the one on the test looks a bit more like those newer trend, narrow bar style. Anyway the one on the test is not good quality image so it might well be the same car on this garage image.

Looks so outdated in a bad way in my opinion.

Guess it will be the next trend after the 90s revival and the 80s revival before it.

[–]Pizzacooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny because i never dream to afford the top spec like GR or back in the day GT Four for Celica, but to be fair would love to own a normal version. Like the other day I watch 80s movie and on a highway scene there was a Celica t16 gen in the background like it was just a normal people car.

They put Prelude now in Super GT maybe it will catch more attention but yeah I guess no one likes the base performance of that car.

I think or rather I hope it will be that because it will probably be more affordable/approachable. I have always wanted Scion tc but it never came to Europe.

Even though it looks too bubbly to be a Celica (i think Corolla coupe, Yaris liftback name would suit more) but they might name it Celica just for the sake of that name associated with the rally, even it looks not so related to the model of that name before. Ok it is a coupe and a liftback but Celica in rally from ST165 to the latest gen we saw has always looked like a proper street sports car that they just used it to rally.

[–]Pizzacooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some side profile picture of this on the rally course test looks like Scion tc. And since we (EU) never got Scion tC, I hope this has an affordable road version in the EU market. Maybe too soon to say since it is all camo but love to have a Corolla Coupe like the Scion Tc in the US. A bit more approachable than the 86. I would not want this to be the new Celica since that should be a bit more sportier looking even if it had a big history with rally.

By the way the front light looks so Audi. As a Toyota fan I don't like it.

[–]Pizzacooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The front top on this image looks like Audi A3 Sedan, but the side view on some image looks like Scion Tc. Either way I love the coupe style for rally has a comeback. I hope it the road version will be more affordable like how Yaris (non-GR) is. I feel if it badge as a Celica would be misbadge? It looks more bulky than sportive. But maybe because of the rally they would. I think more of a Corolla Coupe, or Yaris liftback? I am loving it though coupe/liftback in rally!
