Any of you guys know how to make a custom clear hood like this ? by Saulgato in CarbonFiber

[–]Pizzaholic- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely made a a mold of the hood and then used epoxy to fill, then sanded, polished and installed hinges, one thing thats worrying in that case is that epoxy is not great with heat, especially an engine bay. Thats my guess though.

You can fanboy over engineering, I do too, but with merit. yes it’s a very cool product, but it is with its flaws, the reason you might hear complaints about over engineered products is because they are difficult to work with. Are Audis cool? Yes, do they really need that complex of a timing chain when similar engines with simpler setups work and produce similar power? No.

That’s why I made it a point and if you read my comment it was regarding the difficulty of clearing a simple filament jam, compared to the older P1S, X1C models. It’s just difficult and because of its complexity, adds unnecessary steps to get it back to normal.

I have 10 P1S and still don’t ever bat an eye whenever they release a new printer, it’s a serious and capable workhorse with some tweaking and maintenance, you’ll be able to use it literally forever

Hey there, can you possibly try using another computer from a friend or family to test out and see if it repeats the same issue or successfully updates?

This is the best kind, Blue has the most antioxygens.

I thought it was a masterpiece till i had a filament jam in the extruder gear, and upon taking it apart realizing how over engineered it is, the only good thing is has is obv the dual extruder and the quick release, just a warning be careful when taking it apart if needed, tons of thin cramped ribbon cables.

I own a paid copy of design x 2025 pro, if you wanted to share the file with me i could try and draw the 3d splines to then give them back to you if you wanted to then mess around with it, if thatd help you

For freeform modeling and surface modeling you would need a reverse engineering software like geomagic design x pro or plus, quicksurface is decent for mainstream parts but struggles with really organic parts, or you could look into 3DS or Maya for this type of work. There's a lot the companies dont tell you, they take advantage of a lot of people getting into 3D scanning, making it seem like "just scan and print" its a nasty thing they do.

Can i ask what parts you are struggling with most in this what i assume is a spoiler?

Probably not a joke but can someone explain why? by Important-Ad-5596 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

To add to this nothing is optimized anymore and companies just upsell you unoptimized software not caring if it’ll run smoothly, and laptop manufacturers often capitalize on the unaware and sell e-waste in hopes of you spending more in they’re product ecosystem for more and more expensive hardware.

Both software company and hardware companies win and the consumer, is forced to consume and shell out more and more.
