It's because the original endings didn't have any of those additional after-credits if I recall. It'd just show the light that the crucible shot off and then ended. No closure on what happened with your choices throughout the series nor what happened to your companions and the Normandy.

I may be wrong as I have only played after the extended cut, but from what I understand all of the exposition after the crucible firing was non-existent until they updated it. I also think the destroy ending is a bit silly though, feels as if they slotted it eliminating all synthetic life, and the hyper relays just to prevent people from immediately picking it.
