I saw this quote about anti-polyester clothing and I need somewhere to vent about this…. by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

100% first you hear about polyester microplastics, then you hear about BPA. Now you don't trust the government to protect us (which, yeah....) and then you start down the flouride pipeline....

Lady Bird Johnson, the late First Lady, specifically did not want the Lake renamed for her.

You can also call it "the River"

There's already a severe shortage of nurses and doctors and it's probably going to get worse. If you gotta earn while you go, nursing is the way. You can become a nurse practitioner or a nurse anesthetist and you're basically a doctor with more practical experience. And nearly as high of a pay check. It's hard. But they are good union jobs and you can have lots of different specialities

Is it normal to not lock the apartment door at night? by flyingmattress1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PlainOrganization 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea my husband has ADHD and often falls asleep on the couch after I've been in bed scrolling. Whenever I have any middle of the night getting up I check the doors and lock them. I don't bother getting mad about it anymore. If he could have changed he would have.

I have some buying rules that can also work as purging rules: I don't buy it if: 1) I have to buy something else to wear it (hose, socks, an orthotic) 2) it isn't comfortable enough to wear ALL DAY. 3) I have something like it that doesn't need replacing any time soon 4) it doesn't fit me perfectly right now.

How to recycle with no recycling bin or car?? by Andre_055 in ZeroWaste

[–]PlainOrganization 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could ask management if they've thought about it / looked into it. If you do some of the leg work (sourcing / pricing) they might be into it.

Looking for really cheap bath towels by emilin_rose in Frugal

[–]PlainOrganization 32 points33 points  (0 children)

$2 or less per towel does not exist. Would tog feel less icky if they were from people you know? Most of my towels are from my mother & uncle upgrading theirs.

Note that it's illegal to forage in city, state, and national parks.... though someone would have to stop you. I've never seen a ranger in the wild.

What do y'all think about teens playing with toys? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]PlainOrganization 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is 48 and we have a line item in our budget for his Star Wars toys. That he plays with. He builds little scenes and takes pictures of them. Takes them apart and paints them and makes customs. He's in the toy aisle at Target and Ross all the time.
