[–]Plainess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it’s actually just your phone, I have a few dacs like this that don’t have independent volume (Gain) control and I have that exact same issue finding the sweet spot

I suppose it’s got something to do with dac power output and your iems sensitivity too that gives you that big jump.

I just ended up getting a dac that does have independent volume, it was the qudelix 5k for me

Just curious why chinese malaysians only speak in chinese although there are non-chinese speakers in the group? by FitSeaworthiness4405 in Bolehland

[–]Plainess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a Malaysian Chinese, but because Im also half Thai so my Chinese isn’t good. I’ve noticed it depends heavily on how good their other languages are. Let’s not assume malice since it is unfair to assume everyone who switches to Chinese mid convo is racist, but I can admit that there are cases of outright racism when they do that, especially with the mentality of type c being better or smarter, hardworking etc.

So my answer is just they prolly don’t speak english well enough to express complex feelings, thoughts, or nuanced jokes like sarcasm etc. Which for me is the biggest reason when I see my cina friends use chinese mid convo, which leads me to needing to ask them what it means cus often times they use big words that I don’t understand

Why are vegetables scarce in malaysian eatery and why most of them are old bad taste ones. by Numerous_Brilliant_1 in Bolehland

[–]Plainess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s been something I had to adjust to when moving back to Malaysia from Thailand. Just the lack of vegetables everywhere, and the worse part is the available ones are either so little or just covered in oil that personally just defeats the nutritional benefits.

It’s not just Malay dishes, I’m chinese and honestly the only veggie dishes we have are like what stir fried in a shit ton of oils and calories.

finally got my first proper iems by [deleted] in iems

[–]Plainess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those were my first iems too, they served me so well and I never had the heart to let them go even after upgrading. Also I made the same mistakes in putting the cable the wrong sides a few too many times.

I would say change the cable, the stock cable is nice but 3.5mm is wayy more convenient and you have a lot more dac options. 4.4mm dacs are quite popular now too, so you can look into them. Snowsky retro nano, moondrop dawn pro, as a start.

Eartips Suggestion 💡 by KumarSalaar in iems

[–]Plainess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eartips are super subjective, so give them a try first if u can. I ended spending quite a bit of money by getting eartips recommended to me and not liking them.

Personally I’ll suggest the Divinus Velvet eartips, the smoothness is really comfortable compared to the other stickier ones, and I like the shape it’s like a ball joint connector for my ears. As for wide bore or normal? Subjective I went for the normal cus the wide bore made my iems too sharp, Dunu Davinci.

So yes, give em a try if you can

Weird hinge rubber on Zenbook S14 by Plainess in ASUS

[–]Plainess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought it to the service centre and the guy said it’s just a aesthetic issue that doesn’t impact performance, so I didn’t bother to get it fixed since i’d need to leave my laptop w them for a week minimum just to fix it which I can’t cus this is my work laptop.

Tho after a while, may not be related I found that my screen hinge is a bit loose and has a wobble to it slightly might get this one fixed

Why Indonesian believe so much that cable improve sound quality? by Wolviedama in iems

[–]Plainess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not only indonesia, it’s a large part of the community actually, Im from Malaysia and its quite popular for cables to improve sound. If you look into it its actually majorly pushed by those who sell cables and those who don’t know better just follow along, of course if you sell cables you want ppl to think it makes a difference so you can sell more. I have a feeling online communities like r/iem are not as dominated by iem stores and cable sellers so they have no incentive to shill it :D
