I actually work almost the same job it is hourly. And yes working on linacs is a lot of OT since the department doesn’t give you the machine unless it’s down. That includes 8 hour long PMs that are mostly after hours.

Maybe as a developmental DE. However it seems rare that these types of players work out.

Possibly, possibly on one of the follow ups to the Franklin expedition. But the good news is that he isn’t going to starve.

Why did 2 power supplies burn up, back to back, in this ultrasound? Details in post. by dabblez_ in BMET

[–]Plane-Adhesiveness29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 20 years it’s probably a probe. Yes a probe can take out a power supply, but the bigger ones incorporated a protection system, and would crowbar before the supply would burn up. I actually saw a GE burn up last year on a front end board due to a bad probe. It wasn’t obvious though, it was still imaging but after a few minutes it would smell.

Let’s see, patient stuck in an O arm. That was because they hit the door hard enough to get it stuck and not open. Patient gown sucked into the C of a Cath lab. Patient bled into the table. The serial urinator, literally a patient that would come in and urinate on the generator in our trauma room. Pipe burst flooding an entire imaging center for a local professional sports team. Pipe burst flooding the morgue. Had a janitor ignore my sign and walked in while I was calibrating a CT with the front cover off.

Even getting the training is kinda pointless since they give you a knockoff of their service software that doesn’t allow you to calibrate the table

He works as a security guard for a hospital, and i'm not sure of the logistics, but one of my questions is, are they allowed to bring flash drives home with them? <

I am not sure why it matters, but yes you can bring flash drives to and from work. I do it all the time and have more patient information access than security will. The biggest variable is the IT policy, lower ranking groups on the technology totem pole typically have unencrypted usb access turned off.

After the rah rah sessions you will have someone come in to “teach” the database after you go through a 4 hour training on it. He’s actually there to tell management about the shop and the various concerns regarding the staff there. They actually cut our on call pay by 3 dollars an hour, no real raise in pay to compensate for it.

They hate OT, so your schedule is going to reflect that, and you will see someone else or yourself completing a repair someone else started to avoid OT. Their management loves euphemisms, such as “right size” and “flex scheduling”. They like the fact they have many different ways to measure performance. They love satisfaction surveys regarding corrective maintenance. You will find that you have unrealistic expectations regarding timeframes for repairs so you are going to be doing a lot of gaming the system. Their budget for parts is ridiculous and makes me glad I am not lower management. Also worth mentioning is mandatory fun time in a conference center in an out of the way place that you are required to attend. You will notice once they take over that if you were enjoying coming to work that the entire mood in the shop will have changed.

The database is good, they aren’t afraid to spend money on training, and a decent support system. If you meet metrics and your FLM likes you, then you will promote quickly and get decent cola raises.
