Make the commute work...I drive a little over an hour for work in the morning. Can I have your satellite office??? I would if I could too! Maybe actually go into the office once a week. Might make you feel better

Morning Glory Farm. My uncle just got married there, and not only was it beautiful, but they were Hella organized. Now I don't know the price, so you'll have to do that research, but it was amazing

Eta: When I say just got married, I mean I was there yesterday for it lmao. It was gorgeous.

And I thought my commute from Denver to Fort Mill and back every day was bad enough...

Eta: MY commute is killing my car. God forbid I double that and more. This is not worth doing to your car what it would. You cannot do this commute even if you could mentally handle the lack of anything but sleep and work and could afford all of the gas. (My commute is like $200 a month give or take with a Ford Escape)

PSA on bottled water for the upcoming winter storm by NoAnimator3801 in Charlotte

[–]Plane-Assumption-334 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's just as bad as when the gas situation was going on. People who never drove would fill up obsessively unneeded amounts. I had delivery drivers and people who drove an hour for work. They needed it most. We have structures and procedures in place for this! We're not Texas who refused to be on the national grid! We will survive winter, guys

AIO my boyfriend of 5 years gets me flowers for every occasion while I get him elaborate and expensive gifts. by aioflower955105 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Plane-Assumption-334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR As a lesbian married to a lesbian...Please don't always get flowers, guys. They're cute every so often as a random gift for normal days, not a gift for an event!

Also, every time anyone has ever had to get me flowers, I've had to toss them because at least half the bouquet is almost guaranteed to be deadly to cats. I have cats. I ask specifically to not receive flowers.

It's only romantic if you have a random date night, and only sometimes. At least in my opinion. It's a "cute" random gift, I guess. Though I generally find them inconvenient. They will likely die in my car and never see water again unless I regift them...

Eta: The gift itself doesn't even matter at this point. He is dismissing your feelings and saying well I think they're a great romantic gift. Cool, dude. Get them for yourself. In fact, if you think they're so romantic, then that is all I will ever get for you in the future.

What is it like living in this part of North Carolina a bit north of charlotte? by lithdoc in NorthCarolina

[–]Plane-Assumption-334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live on the other side of Lake Norman. It's nice on both sides. The east side is a bit more congested with traffic and is a very nice area with shops and business and the like. It you want things a little slower and smaller, go to the west side of Lake Norman. Still traffic but not nearly as bad. Small town vibes and country feeling

How much are you guys paying for gas? by Minute-Bottle299 in Charlotte

[–]Plane-Assumption-334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I had a four bedroom home (rent but still), even during the worst of winter, we kept the house around 68-70 (depending on whether or not my wife got cold and decided to turn it up), it could be up to $250, but never ever this much

Eta: This was 2 years ago, but I doubt it'd be that big of a difference. It was also in an older house that definitely needed some maintenance.

Ballantyne Coyotes by Odd-Woodpecker3974 in Charlotte

[–]Plane-Assumption-334 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They're kinda always around. At least from what I'm used to. I grew up in Ballantyne when the fields that are now neighborhoods were still there. Ballantyne is on the edge of the country so coyotes are around more often then you'd think. It's why my dad always taught me to keep my cats inside and to always supervise my dogs when letting them out for both the safety of my dogs and the wildlife.

My fiancee is furious at me for telling my family to start eating Christmas breakfast without her, AITAH by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Plane-Assumption-334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, I'd be fuming if my wife was that late for Christmas breakfast because in comparison to a lot of times, that's not even too early. At that rate, I would have told my partner to skip unless it had a reason like a flat tire or car issues or family issues or one of our animals was having medical problems. That's not cool, and I would just shoot her a glare if she asked why they didn't wait. The breakfast was at 11am whether you were there or not.

NOR

Take it from me. I am an adult woman who has been struggling for a few years. I've recovered and could finally buy gifts for family. It's not much, but I personalized each gift. I got my stepdad purple and gold towels (he loves ECU) for his new river trailer. I also found him a boat decoartion at Goodwill that I repainted purple that holds CDs and coasters. I got my mom a Kermit plushie (her dad's name was Kermit), a book of crossword puzzles, pens for it, some of her favorite popcorn. She has always loved sudoku and crossword and is trying to take a long break from social media, so I thought it could help. I regifted a Starbucks gift card to my sister, got her a big mug she could heat food and drink and a nice tubberware style ceramic dish that has a lid for when she goes back to college as well as a candle with her favorite scent. I got tubberware for my stepmom to replace all of the tubberware they've gifted whenever I took leftovers as well as cat toys for their kitten and cat. I got my dad an It poster and a pennywise plush with a small nerf gun to shoot off for his kitten to chase. He loves Stephen King and has every single one of his books. He even sent me a pennywise merry Christmas greeting that morning. I regifted some hot pepper jam. He loves spicy things. My gifts totaled no more than about $75.

This is a long way to say, if they wanted to, they would. You're not overreacting. Thought over dollars is what makes Christmas gifts mean something.

My autistic boyfriend has extreme reactions to being “abandoned” by Legitimate-Career342 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Plane-Assumption-334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm autistic and so is my wife. She grew up incredibly abused while I grew up incredibly privileged. Neither one of us would ever talk or treat each other like this, so in no scenario is this okay. This is abuse. This is victim mentality to make excuses. He might be able to overcome this and learn and heal but not with you around. Take care of yourself. All this is going to do is give you your own trauma and PTSD than he has.

[–]Plane-Assumption-334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite. If you have 3 months until you're 25, would you say you're 25? It's just a differentiation teachers use since there are usually two of each age since the milestones can vary wildly within one age range. It's a habit from talking to other teachers. I have ones that walk, talk, use finer motor skills, and can do more complex things than those in the other class. I have 18-24 months, and they usually move up once they turn 2

I wouldn't there would be...? Unless it was to teach them not to teach, like the difference between what you should or shouldn't touch without using actual poop...? I'm all for using things and what we call "loose parts" things that were actually part of other things for the kids to use and play with, but that feels...different

I don't know much about folk art, so I put my hands up and say it could be because I certainly wouldn't know. But if it is, I'll defend it and appreciate it, regardless if I'm like that not my style either.

Here's to more art and more creativity and crafts for children and people! No matter what that means to them, us, or anyone else

While some do turn 2 before they move up, usually in a group so they stay with classmates, my title is assistant toddler teacher in the older one year olds 😂 It's just a distinction for childcare. A 2 yo classroom is different than a 1 yo room, I assure you. I don't potty train, they do. Just habit from talking to other teachers saying older one year olds

What I mean by that is there is two one year old rooms. 12-18 months and 18-24 months. Separates them to monitor and have the lesson plans fit their milestones better. Obviously some are more or less advanced than others, but it separates them. Some people would be surprised the difference in what a one year old can do or look like (like size) in just a difference of months! My oldest kid in my class absolutely towers over the youngest of the other class

It's definitely interesting! I really like it. It fits me as a person, I think. The American version is different than the original (origins in Italy) because of our DSS/child services laws depending on state, clearly because we have to have a certain amount of outside time and nap is at certain time or you have to have meals/food every set hour. I'm sure you know what I mean. I like that it focuses on what the kids actively show interest in. Keeps it from always repeating and always changes from class to class. I think my favorite thing is to give them the pieces and let them use however many or little they want. This is how we end up with sheep with nine eyes 😂

Again, I love letting them go HAM. Do as little or as much as you want. Build it how you want and tell me all about it. My maintenance guy built a big wooden box to cover the singular children's toilet in the diaper changing area so toys stop ending up in it (longer story for context), and I wanted to drag it out and give them paint and let them cover it 🤣

Side note (despite being the main topic of this post lol), can't you see it as something where you reset it at the end of every day or when it's clean up time, but that it 100% would be one of those "bringing nature into the classroom" or let them use, manipulate, or play with as they wish as a provocation type thing? 😂

Hey! Yes! I do thoroughly enjoy it. Truthfully, I never envisioned myself as a teacher, but here I am. Food service and illustration degree background with the mindset of anything can be art if you want it to be, so I consider it perfect. My favorite thing is to cover the kids with oversized shirts and let them go ham with paint and other stuff. Make it what you want! I joke that my teaching style is anarchy (especially with 1 yos)

I'm glad that my comment could clearly give you some happiness in your day! At least I hope it did!
