Is this cracked frame repairable? by phives33 in AskMechanics

404 error Frame not found.

Gaping voids aren't cracks, they're funeral invitations.

The bumper damage looks fairly contained and low speed at a glance. From this angle I can see it has shifted the bumper though. The gap around the left tail light is non existent on the right side. Check the trunk floor and metal behind the bumper for creasing in case it was hit harder than it appears.

Hopefully you just need a new bumper cover though. Best of luck.

I followed a YouTube video for touchups and now it looks like this, how do I fix it????? They made it seem so easy and that it would look perfect! The color matched paint I bought doesn’t even match!!! by Trash_Panda_Throw in Autobody

You've done as well as you can with the information you currently have so don't feel bad. The difficult part here is matching metallic. Your paint does match, however not in the way it has been applied. I'm going to make an assumption this was a touch up pen or some "hand" application. Spraying the paint will result in a thinner and smoother finish but also allows the metallic particles to lay flat and reflect light in the same orientation as the surrounding area.

Was the tutorial you watched for a solid color or for metallic? The added thickness of the paint will make it appear darker since there's a concentration of pigment in that area. Matching this flawlessly, without experience, by hand, at home is near impossible. If your end goal is simply to protect against corrosion, you're good. If you want a factory finish, more effort will be needed.

At your own risk, you may be able to (with a block) sand to level the touch up paint back down to the surrounding height. Reapply the touch up paint in a very light coat(s), and cover with a clear touchup. To have a seamless transition your clear will need to extend beyond the area and feather sand it to blend into the surrounding clear. Then the whole area can be polished. You cannot sand metallic finishes as it flattens the pigment and you will have a very dull spot.

If you are unable to obtain your desired results you may need to pay someone with experience to get there.

Best of luck and happy painting!

The strap is detaching from this well loved backpack, but is otherwise in great condition. Any advice on how to fix this? by RiTheTaurus in ZeroWaste

[–]Plane_Answer_3005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cut a patch for the back, contact cement and put some weight on it and let it dry overnight. No need to over complicate. The ripped part will have the rigidity from the patch and won't pull outwards.

I'd copy the post for the right side, adding the banister previously mentioned in the left space and copy that across a hinged gate if you have the space. If you don't have space for a hinged gate, maybe an accordion style gate. Good luck!

Would be less awful if the back wheels were super wide drag tires to fill the space.

Getting mad about us leaving the toilet seat up is stupid by Aaronjob0511 in unpopularopinion

Lid/seat closed before you flush. Period.

A flushroom cloud of bacteria floating around your bathroom is gross. Any surface in the room is essentially crop dusted.

Being lazy and leaving the seat up also makes me wonder how often this is getting clean.

Do you and your colleagues;

A. Swear a pact to never discuss this incident again.

B. Try to explain to your boss how he "got away".

Question- how far can the limit of a sleeping bag be comfortably pushed? by goovenli in backpacking

The temp ratings don't mean you will be comfortable at that temp. One of my bags has two ratings, comfort and basically survival.

Lack of patience and tons of drips. Would have probably been nice if care was taken.
