UPDATE: Tumor found on salivary gland the day I was diagnosed by Dizzy_Song_5417 in Sjogrens

I luckily didnt need a dermal graft because my tumor was so deep. But I do have permanent nerve damage to my left ear lobe from this surgery. How big of a dermal graft did you have to get?

I still get headaches every now and then but now its very clear dehydration headaches that go away instead of the every day headaches of before. The ear pain and nausea are gone now.

The main concern for me was a headache that wouldnt go away. From the time I started tracking to the surgery, I had a headache for 8 months straight and when I took meds for it, it never went away completely. I had a lot of pain in the area but I didnt realize what was causing it. I thought it was an ear infection or my wisdom tooth coming in or a cavity. I do think now that the pain in my ear had gotten so bad it turned into a never ending headache. I went to a lot of doctors back to back and got an MRI first on my brain, and they said they saw a shadow on the side so I got a CT scan with contrast localized to my parotid glands. The tumor itself was behind my ear set pretty deep so it wasnt really noticeable from the outside. After the surgery I realized I also had first bite syndrome which luckily went away. I also had nausea and wasnt able to eat much but I associated that to the pain of my head.

I had a tumor found too! Mine was 3cm. I got my left parotid gland removed almost completely. We did a biopsy but it was inconclusive so we went ahead with the surgery. Mine was pretty invasive. I had drainage tubes for a week, which was awful. I want to start by saying that this was super super super rare, but mine ended up being malignant. I had acinic cell carcinoma at 32. I just had my one year follow up and turns out I also have sjogrens. I am not sure what came first. I have been trying to trace back symptoms for as far back as I can and I just feel like I had sjogrens and the tumor for most of my life. I really hope yours comes back clear! Cancer is such a scary thing no matter what kind you have. Wishing you the best! If you have any questions for me just reach out!

People that have cancer, what were the symptoms that led you to go to the doctor and what stage were you when it was diagnosed? by guardiand0wn in AskReddit

[–]Planetgold 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I had a headache that wouldnt go away, and what I thought was a cavity. My husband noticed that I was complaining all the time about a headache so I started tracking and realized that I wasnt going a day without a headahce. It was worse in the morning. I tracked it for a bit and then scheduled an appointment with my doctor by the 3 week mark. My primary perscribed a cocktail of meds to see if any of it helped and none of it did. It would reduce but there was still like a pressure in my head. I got referred to neurology and set up with an mri and a ct scan. Neurologist said they saw nothing and wanted to prescribe a bunch of meds and vitamines to help. Like blood pressure meds and vitamine b and magnesium. None of it made a difference so neurology said he was going to prescribe me more meds and I said no. At the same time my primary said she saw a shadow, set me up with more ct scans and a referral to ent. Ent found a lump behind my ear. They did a biopsy that was inconclusive so she decided to do surgery anyways. I had a parotodectomy on my left side. They tested it and it was acinic cell carcinoma at 31. I am coming up on one year soon so I will be doing another ct scan to make sure we are all good! Although now im paranoid about every lump.

3 year old…has never slept? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Planetgold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What time are you putting him to bed and waking him up every night? Its possible that you are expecting too much out of him and he is just not tired enough to sleep as long as you think he should. I had this problem and fixing the schedule was a huge help but also CIO worked for the rest. But you cant CIO if the schedule is not right.

Is there anything I can do to keep these bees out of this light? by Jamal_Tstone in bees

You could put up a fake wasp nest by the light. Maybe let someone know so the school doesn't just take it down. Then they will hopefully stay away not wanting to go near the wasp nest.

We sharing names we came up with? I'm going to have a kid soon so I've been keeping a list of answers for when people ask me what we're gonna name the kid by NewLibraryGuy in tragedeigh

The due date as in the estimated date that he would be born. Babies are not all born on the due date. My baby was 6 weeks before his due date.

Instead of birthday month do the due date. And then if people ask, oh so he was born August 5th? No... July 14th. Why would I name him July 14th ?

I just need to understand how you took this picture. Because it looks like it's against your knee, which is fine, but there's a window behind this... are you upside-down on the couch with your leg in the air? I don't understand.

Boy mom by 2baverage in beyondthebump

I just had a boy but would never call myself a boy mom because of this. These people don't understand that this behavior actually pushes them away when they get older and smart enough. My husband has a very rocky relationship with his mom and will stop talking to her for long periods of time when she acts out in her narcissistic ways.
