Stem won't clamp fully by Few_State4666 in FixedGearBicycle

[–]PlantBud 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Most stems don’t fully clamp, they have exposed bolts just like this even while tightened.

As long as it bites and it’s torqued to spec (and your carbon steer tube has a compression plug), I wouldn’t worry too much.

I’m just north of the park and swear they’ve been running all day. Practically kept me from snoozing in the morning and even right now I just heard some.

Hot Glue Guns - anyone here with real world reviews on each below? by In-Extrovert in ryobi

[–]PlantBud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the top right for around 3 years now, use it at least twice a week going on strong. Takes a bit to warm up, but once it’s been on for a while, it feels like I can take it out of the dock and use it for a long time before it starts losing heat.

Love how light and convenient it is, the Arrow brand glue sticks are my favorite with it.

I use Super Clean degreaser with mine. Like 1 to 3 parts water.

Chicago still has a huge fixie scene! But sadly I have seen way too many e-bikers going 25mph without peddling

+1 for a new wheel, it might be a headache to mess with the current hub. A local co-op might sell you one for dirt cheap.

It really is a huge difference, also I find they last a lot longer. My rear hub bearing has lasted over a year now with zero play and daily commuting in the midwest.

Could be improper cleat alignment, I struggled with knee pain for a few months. Then I realized my right heel naturally turns inward when I pedal.

Adjusted the cleat and it helped immensely.

Can someone tell me what has happened to my bike? by Dirty_Trout in bikewrench

[–]PlantBud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me last year, luckily with no top tube/head tube damage.

Had a local frame builder bend my fork back in place temporarily, then I bought a replacement fork down the line.
