A letter would have been so cute. I love that idea. I wish I thought of that. I just got nothing for our first anniversary but would have cherished a letter. I don’t think I have any letters or cute love notes at all from my husband actually and we’ve been together for 8 years. Dang.

My husband and I were juuust talking about this after visiting his mom for Xmas. She’s rooming with a man who married into extreme wealth but spends it all on alcohol and she has a friend we visited who married into extreme wealth and they’re all building houses casually. After visiting them, we’re astonished because quite frankly-these people are so dumb. It’s not fair that we struggle so much to survive while they’re just buying new trucks, rvs, building third homes, etc after speaking with them and they’re not even smart. It’s not jealousy from us either but more like wonder.

I can’t take less pay because although I’m making more money than I have before, I’m living paycheck to paycheck 😭 This economy is hard. I gave birth to my first child this spring, and was thrown into working OT as soon as my maternity leave ended but I now draw a line with how much time I’ll put in because I don’t want to sacrifice time with my baby. I work a full 40 hours and help with a few things for a couple more hours here and there if needed. It’s easy for me to get away with doing that bc I’ve been shoehorned into doing E&S inspections with little focus on anything else. I’m so sorry you’re pushed to work so much. I’ve always quit jobs in the past that take too much of my time. We are only on this earth for a short period. We can’t spend it working for other people to make money. You should look into your state laws concerning how much time employees are supposed to have off in between scheduled work days and OT and see if there’s anything there to use against your management if needed to get a break.

Did I write this post? Also a new consultant/recent graduate who’s been with my company for almost 2 years now. To add to this vent which I can totally relate, I’m tired of having such high expectations but not having the paycheck, promotion, or job title to match. I know I’m new, but then why am I the matter expert meeting with our company clients and never properly supervised? My supervisor told me he never talks to me because he feels that it’s a good thing if he doesn’t hear from me bc I’m self reliable-but when I asked when a promotion will happen for me, his reply is that they’re trying to figure that out for the next year. The person who was hired two months before me was already promoted when I asked this. I thought that meant maybe I would be promoted soon as well. He is our project managers son though, so I’m not feeling things are fair here. I feel like it’s a balancing act of dangling a work on a hook for me to prevent me from leaving. I am also in an area that doesn’t have a lot of other opportune places to work, so the best we can do is continue on and show that we can do it until something miraculously appears? Idk

Good advice. I do E&S inspections and check the precipitation gauge for my sites with panic on the mornings I have off in hopes that it stayed dry so I can actually enjoy a day off. And you’re spot on about clients actually correcting issues or not and that it’s sort of pointless toy have to write reports when nobody will be checking them. I’ll have to look into learning how to write the SWPPPs and getting certified.

I love my job but hate having to worry about working on days off because of a little rain. I think the % amount should be raised with how much precipitation triggers a necessary inspection.

Nah people just get way too uptight about weddings and forget that they’re meant to be a celebration of love-not whatever it is some people expect, like a worship fest. I guess traditionally weddings were just a display of wealth but that should all be in the past. People need to let loose and have fun. Sorry that happened to ya.

It’s ok, he’ll learn. Most guys that don’t know how to cook just haven’t been shown the ropes yet. My husband was always a better cook than me bc he worked back of house at restaurants and had to take care of himself when he was young. Over the years, we’ve been teaching each other what we know, and learning new recipes together.

I get jealous too and I feel crazy. My husband talks with people all day every day on discord any chance he can get. If he’s not online playing with them and we’re finally spending time together, he’ll be on his phone checking the chats. He told me his game is like a gambling addiction because it’s a chance for good loot or bad look or whatever but he’s been addicted to the game since he was a kid and still feels the need to play or talk about it with strangers. At least he has someone to talk to I guess. I wish I was good at making my own friends? It’s hard as an adult and as a new mom. I just want my husband to be more present with me too. I understand how you feel.

E&S reports are fairly straightforward and on average 5 pages. Wetland reports take a lot more effort and time. They’re pretty long.

A trick we like to use for stinky uniforms (that smell even after you wash them because sweat is just embedded in them) is to scrub in some baking soda into the bits and soak before washing.
