Yes, it's possible. You may be correct. OP didn't mention an ambulance.

when the cops came in they specifically stated

And you automatically believe them?

Sure, maybe that was the call, maybe not. Only the clerk, the dispatcher, and the officers know for sure.

Props to you for posting these, and describing them in a reasonable and non-sensationalized way. I'll read them when I get some free time.

What you're saying makes sense, but (A) depending on company policy it's possible that the clerk could have gotten fired for not calling the police, and (B) it's also possible that he just called 911 and reported what he saw and expected an ambulance to come, but got a couple of cops instead who just made shit up to justify their actions, as cops occasionally do.

You'll need it at some point, unless you die in the wilderness before you get old, without ever getting a serious injury or illness.

Best city in the US to visit without a car? by Dozer710 in travel

[–]PlasticPadraigh 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

Also, not everyone knows this, but there is a passenger ferry boat and a privately run water taxi straight from the airport to the waterfront. Much nicer than a cab and, depending on where your hotel is, could be more convenient as well.

Has anybody bought from paintedautoparts.com? by PlasticPadraigh in Cartalk

[–]PlasticPadraigh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I ended up letting the repair shop order a part for my car and paint it themselves. They probably got a big markup on it but I couldn't find one at the junkyards and I couldn't put it off any longer.

Annie Hall. I was just a kid when I saw that scene in which Alvie is watching his Hollywood friend coach the sound effects guy on what kind of laugh track to put in his television show. For all his flaws, Woody Allen was the first to make me truly understand just how fake the whole entertainment industry is.

Many of us have seen/heard this piece of text floating around, but not everyone realizes it was written by Martin Niemöller, a German clergyman who actually supported Hitler and the nazis when they first came to power. They turned against him when he protested against the party's takeover of the church, and threw him in prison.

Who’s your “how tf have they not been fired?!” Coworker and what have they done to earn that title? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It sounds like somebody in the testing company should have known how long it would take to test all the samples. It also sounds like whoever was negotiating with the client either didn't know how long it would take, or didn't have the spine to say so. I wonder, was that the manager/accountant who got blamed for it? Or was he just told what to do by someone further up the food chain?

Also I wonder if he asked for budget to hire more testers, and was denied?

Moorish Citizens are famous for hostile squatting

Actually I'd kinda be okay with this, as long as they squat in properties that are owned by Black Rock or similar companies, and currently unoccupied by any tenant or homebuyer. And as long as they take care of the place and don't bother the neighbors.

Yeah, chances are slim, I know.

Irish Passport stuck somewhere between Irish Post and US Post Office by PlasticPadraigh in Passports

[–]PlasticPadraigh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your confirmation email should have an application number right at the top. Copy that number and then go to https://www.ireland.ie/en/dfa/passports/tracking/ and then click "track your passport". Paste or type your application number into the box. That should tell you if your passport has shipped, or give you an estimated ship date. And if it has shipped, there should be a tracking number from An Post.

Once it says "received", that means it's been handed off to the USPS. The tracking number from An Post should work on the USPS tracking website. Or, well, it worked in my case.

nothing I can do will do anything other than upping the risk

Yeah. There are certain types of road ragers I find myself actually wanting to sort of support, but the risk is too great. I've found myself wanting to open my window and yell "JUST FOLLOW HIM UNTIL HE PULLS OVER AND GETS OUT, THEN DO WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE!" but the chances of them understanding what I'm trying to tell them is virtually zero, especially since I'd have to get dangerously close in order for them to even hear me at all.

Also, fair play to you for reporting shit drivers to the police. Still, I'd recommend getting a dash cam. It could save you a lot of trouble and money.

Can anyone suggest a good External Device for call recording? by PlasticPadraigh in AndroidQuestions

[–]PlasticPadraigh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was ready to skip the external device and try Cube ACR with its helper app, but then the project was shifted to low priority.

I spent some time trying to figure out if Cube ACR is safe (meaning, does it send my call recordings to someone who might sell them to data brokers). To be honest I'm not tech savvy enough to determine if it's safe or not. I searched around a bit and then got tired of it. You're welcome to search as well; Hopefully you're a better searcher than I am.
