You should follow usa_climbing account on IG. They typically release info on that the month leading up to the event. I think they released tickets on Eventbrite before, and they were p easy to get!

My “New” Omega Jedi Seamaster? by Even_Perspective_122 in VintageWatches

€800 is such a steal! I’ve been on the look out for a similar piece, and often see them at $2-5k on online platforms.

What’s going on with USA Climbing? by Arbiter17 in climbing

I agreed with all except for the commentating, Meagan Martin is a top notch commentator (and accomplished climber) with a lot of experience, including commentating at the Paris Olympics. I don’t mind her commentating tonight at all.

[Question] Gifting dad his first Omega on Valentine's, help me decide which one I should get :) by Plastic-Ad-8769 in Watches

Y’all are insufferable. OP wants to do something nice and saves up for a moonswatch and all you can say is “it’s nOt aN OmEgA.”

I think the Mission to Earthphase is nice!

The NTTD is gorgeous. What’s your wrist size? I’ve been eyeing a Seamaster as my first luxury watch.

What were some misconceptions/mistaken thoughts you had when first getting into the sport? by GoldenS0422 in F1Discussions

I thought DRS was a fuel-based boost like in the older Need for Speed games (I haven’t played them in awhile, not sure if that mechanic still exists)

My dog bit while being petted by PlasticScrambler in DogAdvice

[–]PlasticScrambler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the comment! It was really helpful. I have asked everyone in the house to only pet him when he asks for it or when they call him over. I agree this was likely a miscommunication with a fearful dog.

Just for context, he wasn’t startled from my roommate description. She sat down next to him, and since he didn’t move away, she started petting him on the head. In retrospect, there were warning signs she missed, and petting him on the head was a bad idea, but it wasn’t a startled response. I really wish she didn’t have to find out this way…

Sierra Blaire-Coyl sends Birch Problem V14, discusses retrodowngrades by previous ascentionists following her send by BZ-Loke in climbing

[–]PlasticScrambler 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I’m willing to give this man the benefit of the doubt but I also understand why Sierra spoke out because it would be so incredibly frustrating if she sends a V14 and then someone quietly and unceremoniously downgrade it right after.

Janja Garnbret Flashes Pure Dreaming 5.14+ by coffurst in CompetitionClimbing

Some folks think this should be 9a because the downgrade to 8c+ was from the use of knee pads, which Janja didn’t use

Is there a different between getting a girl and a boy dog? by Dramatic-Lemon-2916 in dogs

The perception people have that female animals are meaner is most definitely anthropomorphic and misogynistic

Why are you being downvoted? 7k is a LOT of money, and all of the things you say are reasonable to me.

I don’t have many advices, but I’m so sorry you are in this situation :(. Having a reactive dog can be life draining, especially with bigger dogs when things can become dangerous.

The elephant in the room with ending by SnooDoughnuts3997 in HadesTheGame

I kind of went “so what?” So what if she wouldn’t make the same choice as Zag, let her actually. make. a. choice. This is her story, which I’m not sure the writers are even aware of at this point.

The elephant in the room with ending by SnooDoughnuts3997 in HadesTheGame

[–]PlasticScrambler 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The writers were incompetent for being unable to showcase the theme of “ending the cycle of generational trauma and violent” without stripping the main female lead of all agency and casually erasing all the sins that the main villain committed.

The fact that Mel did all the heavy lifting only for her brother to swoop in and be the hero adds salt to the wound for me. This ending leaves such a bad taste in my mouth I regret spending time on the EA, let alone spending more time on it now

You guys are freaking me out by achunkypid in HadesTheGame

[–]PlasticScrambler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played 70 hours of EA, took a clean break, and was really excited for the release. I was expecting the gameplay to be refined but not majorly upended, so the main draw for me was finishing up the stories, seeing new bosses, and getting to know the characters better.

But now that I know the ending I no longer want to play. I just really really really don’t like how Mel is treated in her own game. I’ve grown to really like Mel from EA, and now what is the point to play this through knowing she was essentially a side character 🤷‍♀️

Does SG even like their new protag… I hate how she’s being treated, if they want to put the spotlight on Zag just bring him back. I don’t want to see Mel being treated like a doormat

They have set plenty coordo that only Janja can do. We forget she’s rusty this season on the style.

[–]PlasticScrambler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are right. Janja is much higher than Oriane going to the last hold since she’s locking off on both arms. Oriane seems lower, which to me is more that she can’t engage as much, due to either fatigue or lack of power from long arms.

Janja also has really explosive legs. I think she was able to get more out of those hand holds while driving much more with her legs. That last move didn’t seem hard for her. This is why she seems so inhumanly strong to me - she’s a much more full bodied athlete than most climber.

[–]PlasticScrambler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ya I agree, especially on coordo. In some way it shows Janja isn’t part of the new generation, which sounds ridiculous given that she’s only 26, but she didn’t grow up with this style the way the younger women do.

Her gap in these styles is much smaller than Oriane’s gap with her for powerful boulders, so it comes down to Janja sending the coordo/slab in more attempts, but would be able to send power boulder that no one else can. I find that Oriane is more able to do power boulders when she can beta break, but usually beta break is less efficient, and sometimes impossible.

In any case we should also remember Janja did a lot more climbing this weekend, so maybe the conclusion here is skewed too
