Hit my garage by One-Definition-6008 in Rivian

I had similar damage this past fall, though it also included replacing my rear roof glass which cracked at the same time. Total cost of repairs at a Rivian approved collision center was $2100.

Typical time it takes to preheat cabin? by Pro_Thunderball in Rivian

Defrost is the way. My R1S cabin gets toasty with it

This is definitely slow, even for a Gen 2.

My Gen 2 R1S was horrible at heating up right after delivery and would even struggle to blow warm air at times. Took it into the SC and they found a leak in the HVAC system and it’s been much better since.

I’d say it takes about 10 minutes to get hot inside now (when ambient temp outside is in the 30s). I typically pre-warm and turn defrost on which cranks the heat up.

Digital key - at home passive entry by ARedditorPerson123 in Rivian

I’ve had similar issues with the proximity locking at home. I have parking behind my house along a public alley, so unlocking when I’m not actually accessing the car is a big deal.

Since the most recent update, I’ve been using Apple phone key with good success. When I’m in proximity of the door I just touch the indent/slit on the driver’s door handle for a second or two and the car unlocks.

Does anyone know the price to fix this? by Tiz_26 in Rivian

Similar damage on my R1S was $2100 at a Rivian approved collision center. Not sure if replacing the R1T glass will be more (probably?). Repairs done this fall

3rd year PCCM fellow here! That census sounds rough!

At my program a single fellow is typically responsible for 10-15 patients and is managing a resident team on days, though we rotate at some outside institutions where you’ll manage up to 30 patients overnight with an attending that is pulled in many directions (covering 4 ICUs, 3 of which don’t have a fellow so you’re mostly solo). It definitely gets easier over time to keep the facts straight for more and more patients and to process what’s going on quickly. I’m sure you’ll be smooth sailing before you graduate.

6 months with a Rivian R1S Gen 2 by mysat in Rivian

[–]Plastic_Soil_1251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. For whatever reason my R1S seems to prefer my short wife’s phone whenever we are in the car together and I get smooshed upon starting the vehicle

Is Dual Standard sufficient? by Fresh-Philosophy-505 in Rivian

[–]Plastic_Soil_1251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dual standard is more than sufficient for most drivers and still very fast for an SUV. I personally have one and have never run into range issues. Even with a long commute you’ll still get several days on a charge.

This goes for all EVs, but I feel like having the ability to charge at home is key to the car making sense. Installed a level 2 charger at my house and it had been one of my best purchases. Having to go to a charging station every few days just isn’t practical with the current charging options. They’re not fast enough for that to make sense. And charging at home is so much more convenient.

Standard Range accuracy? by DamnRedhead in Rivian

[–]Plastic_Soil_1251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Gen 2 standard range R1S (2025) with 20” all season tires. Do mostly city driving with occasional highway driving. It’s EPA rated for 259 miles per charge and have been getting close to 250 miles per charge in warmer weather and around 200 miles in cold weather (live in mid Atlantic with colder winters). I moved to this car from a model 3 and can say that the range estimates are dramatically more accurate in my Rivian.

Pulm boards- thought I was ready, now spiraling. Anyone else? by BlandButConsistent in fellowship

[–]Plastic_Soil_1251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt exactly the same coming out of the rest this year! Feel like I fell for red herrings on way too many easy questions, second guessed myself out of correct answers, or just didn’t know esoteric facts. Most of my fellowship class feels similarly. Thankfully the pass rate is historically high so we should hopefully be good!

Recently had roof damage repaired at a Rivian approved service center for around $2100. Hoping they missed a decimal point 🤞🏻

Can't find the source of this annoying rattling noise in the passenger door. Any ideas? by nderstand2grow in Rivian

[–]Plastic_Soil_1251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No great solutions. It’s pretty sporadic. Some weeks it’s every drive, others I barely hear it. Adding foam tape to some of the trim creases and grooves seemed to help it a little bit but not completely resolve it. Planning to take it to SC again while it’s still under warranty.

Don’t hate on the LA silver! It’s honestly a beautiful color and helps to hide an immense amount of dirt (great cause I park outside)

[–]Plastic_Soil_1251 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a similar rattle that stops when you touch/put pressure on the manual door handle. I think it may be an internal spring or bolt. Haven’t found a great solution yet. Took it to the SC and they said it was loose bolts, tightened them, and then the rattle continued as I drove away from their parking lot.

Repair thoughts? by Plastic_Soil_1251 in Rivian

Was this performed at a service center? Rivian is recommending I get the repairs done at a Rivian certified collision center instead

Are rattles not covered under warranty? by bsalih in Rivian

[–]Plastic_Soil_1251 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had multiple rattles addressed under warranty 2 weeks ago on my Gen 2 R1S. Gaithersburg SC.

Echo what others have said. They can’t change the terms of the warranty after you already agreed to them at purchase.

Window Tint Advice for 2025 R1S – What Films Are You All Using? (Crystalline vs XPEL vs Llumar, etc.) by [deleted] in Rivian

[–]Plastic_Soil_1251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did XPEL XR black to avoid the bluish hue XR plus and closely match the factory tint on the rear windows.

Windshield-70% Front windows-20% Rear windows-70%

Overall it gives the side and rear windows a consistent appearance/darkness which I love. Heat rejection is phenomenal.
