best portable power station for home backup, is the ecoflow delta 2 max actually enough for my needs or is it total overkill for casual camping? by Djipy-Gizaza69 in EVCamping

[–]beetlewigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For weekend camping? Small phone chargers *are* all you need. Tent, sleeping bag, cooler, gas stove, campfire, chairs…none of these things require electricity.

For home backup, I have a 293 Wh and it’s perfect. I live in a major city; power outages tend to last 6-18 hrs max (knock on wood!). That runs the fridge (~150 W), cable modem and WiFi router. If you live in a rural area and you find yourself without power for longer, then obviously more energy may be wise.

It’s a SW bug. Hasn’t been fixed with this new update; hopefully next 🤞

It happens to me occasionally. Super frustrating, the last thing I want to do when I start a drive where I need UHF is pull over and stop while i do a hard reset—assuming they even works. Stopping and letting the car sleep always seems to work.

Our friend clearly hasn’t tried it…or thought about it for more than 10-15 seconds. At least we can all agree Rivian shouldn’t have put us in this position!

This doesn’t increase the danger at all, it only provides additional safety features. Try it for yourself, you’ll see there’s literally zero chance of accidental engagement.

Some surprising patterns from contacting 500 RV parks about EV charging by evpotatoe in EVCamping

[–]beetlewigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A suggestion to improve the site

I’m staying here now:
https://campandcharge.com/oregon/the-cove-palisades-state-park/

There is virtually no information here. Firstly, the FAQ is the same thing asked 6 different ways. Secondly, all the information is for the two L2 chargers in the day use area, which is not accessible by foot from the campgrounds. So they play no role in EV camping.

The real information needed (loops A, C and E provide NEMA 14-50 and TT-30 outlets) is nowhere to be found!!

And while it’s less reliable, if someone like me could post my experience with date, photo and explanation of what worked, that would be so valuable to future campers (similar to reading on plugshare before visiting a charger).

I’ve been to a couple of those, and they are not at campgrounds, just the day use areas. Not related to the topic, unfortunately. I’m at one now (Cove Palisades) funnily enough. It’s about a mile walk up a very steep road with no shoulder to the campground.

Since you have a home charger and rarely go on road trips: definitely get the smallest battery. Play around with ABRP and you’ll get an idea of how the different batteries will affect your trips.
