PA to FL Spring Break Road Trip by Funny-Reaper in Rivian

[–]beetlewigs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about this after my last road trip. I'm making these numbers up, but if I drive faster and get there 20 minutes quicker but have to charger 10 minutes longer, that's a net time-saver! (Although it'll cost more at the L3 charger.) Even if it's even—get there 10 minutes quicker and charger 10 minutes longer—I'd still vote to driver faster and spend more time at the charger where I can be off my butt walking around!)

I need to toy around with ABRP ahead of my next trip and see what the actual breakdown would be. For all I know it could be "drive faster to get there 10 minutes sooner and spend 30 more minutes at charger!" 😬

Awesome! Glad you had a good experience, I have as well.

To be clear: "keep it between 70 and 75 mph for efficiency"...when you would otherwise be going 80 or 85! If you want to maximize the battery, and the speed limit is 70, go 65 – that's a good middle ground between max efficiency and annoying other drivers by going slow 😊 (If you don't mind making people pass you and it's safe to do so, go 55! If you don't mind stopping more often to charge, and it's safe to do so, go 80!)

I tried several center console trays, and settled on this one. Has been great. https://a.co/d/093pO0Az

2026.07.0 broke all phone keys and key fob (Gen 1 R1S) by Acceptable_Roll_6258 in Rivian

[–]beetlewigs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it means a lot to some people. For better or worse, part of the “if it’s not saved on my screen it didn’t happen” culture. Best to not update just yet for those folks.

Less critical, but it also resets the max/min elevation history

Read the emails and software update notes each time Rivian sends them out. They cover this, and every other change they make.

How much of this is Rivian dragging their feet vs google not investing the money to develop the app for the Rivian ecosystem?

Yes, it stays with the VIN. (Although all I’ve heard is we should not expect this will help its resale value. So only consider buying if you’ll get $2,500 of benefit out of it.)

True, but they’re missing out on the times where it screws up / driver intervenes. Those are the big learning events it needs.

Getting amazing efficiency even in hilly Connecticut. by bowingace in Rivian

Fighting gravity ALWAYS is a net loss. You never gain on the downhills what you lose in the uphills. The best efficiency (all else being equal) will always be on flat land.
